The HRIS & Compliance Specialist will serve business needs and advance business goals through Transcat’s Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), including UKG and iCIMS. In addition, the incumbent will determine Transcat’s compliance obligations, recommend compliance measures, and monitor compliance with all local, state/provincial, and federal laws in both the USA and Canada.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- In conjunction with Human Resources leadership, define how Transcat’s HRIS can be optimized to provide the best employee experience and best serve Transcat’s business needs and our high impact HR organization
- Manage requests for process improvements, system enhancements, and the development and/or purchase of new software applications
- Identify areas of improvement, recommend changes, and implement functional solutions for existing systems
- HRIS Responsibilities
- Develop, document, and maintain all current and new HRIS business process workflows for efficiency and compliance
- Lead the continuous evaluation and evolution of HR Systems that include UKG (HR & Payroll) and iCIMS (Applicant Tracking System)
- Mentor and coach the team to develop expertise and drive process and configuration excellence
- Act as the lead for further HRIS testing, configuration, security administration, report writing, and system optimization
- General HRIS data-entry and administration as necessary
- Partner with other employees, managers, or departments on HRIS related issues, enhancements, or queries
- Proactively Identify and resolve issues or opportunities for enhanced user experience and other HRIS integrations
- Compliance Responsibilities
- Develop and provide employee training on compliance policies, practices, and reporting systems
- Subject matter expert in all US and Canadian local, state/provincial, regional, national, and federal employment laws and regulations
- Report to management on status, proposed improvements, and impending legislative changes
- Measure compliance with relevant legislation and internal compliance procedures; report compliance issues and irregularities
- Maintain and update the USA and Canadian employee handbooks as policies and laws change
- Keep informed regarding pending legislative changes, trends, and best practices and assess the impact of these changes on organizational processes
- Ensure we meet all standards required for employment-related external audits
- Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to be effective and productive in ambiguity

- Demonstrated ability to effectively perform in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment that requires acting with urgency without sacrificing accuracy or quality
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, and collaboration skills
- In depth knowledge of employment legal compliance and compliance processes
- Ability to move between leadership, management, and support partner
- Excellent analytical and decision making skills
Education and Experience
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred
- At least three years’ hands-on HRIS experience (preferably with UKG and/or iCIMS)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Regulatory Affairs, HR or other related field
- At least three years’ experience in the human resources or compliance field (US required; Canadian experience is a plus)
