Salary: $17 hourly


The City of Atlanta’s Department of Human Resources (“DHR”) is seeking hardworking and
skilled candidates for their Human Resources Internship Program.
Candidates will be required to be currently enrolled in college (or graduated within the last
calendar year) and pursuing a degree with a major or concentration in Human Resources,
Business Management, International Affairs, Government, Public Administration, International
Business or related field.
This eight-week internship is specifically designed to provide a first touch in all HR disciplines
and will cover all the major areas within a full-functioning Human Resources operation. This is a
part time position that carries the expectation that the intern will work 30 hours per week from
June 5, 2023 - July 28, 2023.


RESPONSIBLITIES
The HR Intern may have the following responsibilities:
  • The duties and responsibilities of the HR Generalist in the following general headings:
Labor and employee relations, policy, medical leave, legislation and contracts,
operations, benefits, talent and acquisition, compensation and class and HRIS;
  • Research and assist to develop best practices in learning and development, culture,
  • Communicate finding sand project status clearly and professionally;
  • Have high organization and time management skills;
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of work performed;

  • Communicate learning and development-related information to employees using
  • Assist with City recruiting initiatives and events;
  • Support employee relations initiatives ;
internal communication platforms and other tools;
  • Effectively interact with all City employees and possess excellent interpersonal, written
  • Collaborates with HR team to launch/post communication campaigns;
and verbal communication skills;
  • Act as an ambassador by sharing information with fellow interns and bringing feedback
to the team;
  • Promote the City’s Moving Atlanta Forward agenda and promote that the City has an
“Opportunity for All”;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a team

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled in college (or graduated within the last calendar year) and pursuing a
degree with a major or concentration in Human Resources, Business Management,
International Affairs, Government, Public Administration, International Business or
related field;
  • Four (4) years of experience in any workforce.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Professional experience in Human Resources, employee relations, or DEI is highly
desirable
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships with various stakeholders.
  • Proven success for working with all types of individuals in a high-paced environment
