Overview


The HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a trusted strategic business advisor, mentor, and coach to Canoo executives in assigned business units through collaborative partnerships to ensure alignment with HR strategies. The position creates these trusted partnerships across the enterprise to deliver value-added service to leadership and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. This role has oversight for all aspects of the employee lifecycle while they work for Canoo to elevate the overall employee experience.


Responsibilities


  • Leads strategic support on all human resources related initiatives and the evolution of operational improvements.
  • Act as a change-agent as the business continues to reshape itself with the goal of providing world-class employee experience
  • Leads the review of employee performance management and talent development with leaders
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to management staff with a focus on building leadership capabilities and elevating the organization
  • Resolves complex employee relations issues through objective employee investigations and interviews, coaching managers, collaborating with Legal as needed
  • Provides consultative guidance on performance management, talent management, leadership development, organization alignment, culture, and employee engagement
  • Analyze and interpret qualitative and quantitative data to recommend solutions and drive continuous improvement of strategic talent priorities, to include performance, retention, and the employee experience
  • Implements HR strategies that includes, but is not limited to organizational development, performance management, talent planning and career development, leadership development, employee communications, change management, training, and development
  • Provides ongoing performance coaching and feedback to the assigned leaders to drive high performance teams and an engaged workforce
  • Oversight for the employee, intern, and contractor on-boarding process
  • Leads all aspects of employee terminations, voluntary and involuntary, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation for high-risk cases and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Works collaboratively with subject matter experts and stakeholders in the development of the training/development strategies to close skill “gaps” between current and future skill sets and competencies to develop workforce and succession plans
  • Provides expert advice and counsel to leaders on organization, leadership, and human resources issues


Qualifications


  • Effective communication and critical thinking skills
  • 5+ years’ expert knowledge in a HR Business Partner or equivalent role working with senior business executives in a matrixed, high-growth organization
  • Experience operating in a constantly changing environment, demonstrating agility in various work situations
  • Ability to work with minimal direction while delivering quickly and accurately in a fast-paced, undefined environment with changing priorities
  • Assertive conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills and ability to think creatively and work collaboratively to develop and maturate solutions
  • Demonstrated solid judgement and experience assessing risk relative to the business
  • Demonstrated leadership prioritizing key objectives while managing daily tactical requirements
  • Proven credentials as a leader with deep business acumen, including expertise collaborating and establish strong relationships with customers
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including but not limited to total rewards, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, performance management, and employment laws.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Organization Development, Psychology, or equivalent experience
Preferred Experience


  • Automotive and/or technology company experience
  • Related HR certifications, e.g., SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources related disciplines
  • Multi-disciplined HR focus areas of experience
