Head of Technology, Healthcare Venture Studio:

Healthworx Studio is a growing non profit organization focused on improving healthcare for all. We incubate, launch and scale sustainable health solutions to address critical problems and empower people to live better lives.

Healthworx Studio is looking for a Head of Technology to join our team of builders in leading the creation of transformational healthcare solutions. In this opportunity, you will be responsible for building foundational engineering components for our Portfolio Companies and consulting on design and technology infrastructure for pipeline opportunities. You and your team will also support the broader IT Operations and Security for the studio and its portfolio companies. As a member of the Studio’s leadership team, you will be establishing and improving on the systems and processes already in place while developing and hiring internal talent.

This is a great opportunity for a relationship oriented leader passionate about shipping great products with long term healthcare impacts. This is a remote opportunity, with occasional on-site meetings. Candidates within a commutable distance to Washington, DC preferred.

What you can expect in this role:

Studio Technology Strategy

• Collaborate with the studio leadership team to define and prioritize technology initiatives that support business growth and expansion.
• Evaluate new systems and infrastructure to support the organization and products.
• Hire, train and develop current and future engineering and IT team members.

Portfolio Operations Support & Product Development

• Serve as a technical subject matter expert in the design, scope, feasibility assessment, cost projection and implementation of MVPs.
• Support the Business and Product Teams by ensuring timely and high quality delivery of Portfolio company software products.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and engineering, to define product roadmaps and release plans.
• Work closely with external partners, vendors, and founders to understand their technology needs and ensure successful integrations and partnerships.

IT Operations & Security

• Develop and direct all networking safeguards to reduce the risk of outside breaches and protect internal and external client information.
• Assist studio and portfolio team members with miscellaneous technical needs.
• Oversee and build upon all internal communication and collaboration systems, such as email, slack, and other team specific software programs.

• You have a successful track record of leading and delivering complex software projects on time and within budget.
• You are naturally curious and are interested in being at the forefront of Healthcare innovation.
• You have 7+ years of experience in Healthcare adjacent Technology Management, with 4+ years of people leadership experience.
• You strive for excellence within your own work, and have a proven track record of inspiring others around you.
• You approach collaboration with trust, mutual respect, and warmth.
• You are an advocate for DEIB and conscious of creating an environment that enables inclusion and authenticity.
• You possess strong emotional intelligence, with an ability to hire, train, develop, and retain top talent.
• You possess an ability to articulate technological strategy to diverse audiences, with experience interfacing at the board level.
• You have experience scoping, designing, implementing, launching and maintaining diverse MVPs within a consulting, incubator, or venture studio environment.
• You possess a strong technical background with expertise in software development, cloud computing, and mobile device technology. Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, Postgres and/or React a plus.
