Job Description

Tonies US is looking for a Head of Ecommerce Marketplaces who is passionate about e-commerce marketplace channels with a particular focus on our 3P Amazon business. This individual will have a general manager mindset to drive performance across our existing marketplace channels, and expand into new marketplace channels that are an appropriate fit for Tonies. You will be equally comfortable developing the overall strategic plan for our marketplace business and rolling up your sleeves to dive into the details to tackle small tasks across listing quality, account health, inventory management, advertising, and reporting. You are highly collaborative and partner closely with cross-functional partners (Marketing, Digital Advertising, Supply Chain, Customer Happiness, Finance) and external partners who support your business. This position reports to the Senior Director, E-commerce at Tonies USA and has management responsibility for one direct report (with an opportunity to grow your team over time).


Key Responsibilities:


Strategy & Leadership

  • Operate as a marketplaces thought leader internally, sharing learnings and best practices with other international markets
  • Identify & prioritise new marketplace channels in which to launch, and lead the broader Tonies US team through those launches
  • Drive a culture of transparency, accountability, performance-based management, teamwork, and other best practices in line with our Tonie principles
  • Develop and maintain the overall strategy for each marketplace channel and its role within the wider Tonies US business
  • Lead your direct reports with a focus on supporting their career growth


Assortment Planning & Listing Quality

  • Ensure that new SKUs are set-up accurately and that all new product launches are successfully executed
  • Determine the right assortment given the customer mix of each marketplace channel
  • Conduct daily “walk the store” merchandising and assortment reviews
  • Apply test and learn approach to merchandising, continuously driving improvement for listings and page-level metrics (conversion, engagement, revenue, etc.)
  • Maintain best-in-class merchandising standards across marketplace channels including detail pages, enhanced brand content, and stores


Pricing and Promotions

  • Maintain marketplaces promotional calendars, ensuring all relevant promotion details are available and aligned with other sales channels
  • Apply deep understanding of full marketplace promotional toolkit, strategically utilizing the right tool at the right time
  • Build pricing strategies that align with multi-channel pricing while also maximizing channel opportunity


Marketing & Advertising

  • Build relationships with your marketplace marketing leads at our licensing partners and develop cross-merchandising and cross-promotional opportunities
  • Partner with Digital Advertising lead to develop a paid advertising strategy that supports each marketplace channel
  • Leverage the full on-platform Marketing toolkit such as A+ content, Amazon Live, Posts
  • Develop marketing strategies for each marketplace that help customers understand our brand and increase Toniebox’s install base
  • Keep current with short and long-term market trends and adjust merchandising and support plans accordingly
  • Work closely with Marketing to understand how ecommerce marketplaces can best contribute and support Tonies US overall brand and marketing strategy


Inventory Management & Operations

  • Monitor marketplace account health and work with partner teams to address immediate issues, identify root cause issues, and develop and implement longer term plans to fix and address.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Tonies USA supply chain team, Tonies global supply chain team, third party logistic partners, and manufacturers to help identify value chain improvement opportunities
  • Ensure that all policy documentation required by marketplaces is provided on a timely basis such as child safety documentation, hazmat regulations, etc.
  • Build a supply chain strategy to balance availability and inventory levels while simplifying operations
  • Build models to forecast product demand for key deal events and the Holiday period
  • Determine launch and ongoing replenishment inventory needs and place orders as required at the required cadence
  • Advocate for marketplace requirements across Tonies US operational teams including supply chain and customer happiness.


Finance & Reporting

  • Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed to identify business opportunities to improve ecommerce marketplace performance
  • Maintain a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual demand forecast.
  • Maintain and improve the Weekly Trading Report to actively manage the business and keep stakeholders informed of business performance


Qualifications

  • A roll up your sleeves mentality, with a passion for problem-solving, big and small
  • Buying or retail negotiations experience a plus
  • 5+ years of experience selling professionally on Amazon ($25 Million+ revenue per year)
  • Always on mentality during game time moments like Prime Day, Black Friday, etc.
  • Unrelenting commitment to seamless execution and attention to detail
  • General management mindset with a strong sense of ownership for your channels
  • Time management skills to prioritize work while under pressure
  • BA or BS degree; MBA a plus
  • A high level of learning agility and comfort with ambiguity in a startup environment undergoing rapid growth
  • Comfort with a remote working environment with ability to travel domestically (10%)
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills who enjoys working cross-functionally
  • Strong grasp on organic and paid search best practices and strategies to maximize discoverability & brand presence
