SunZia Transmission is a 550-mile ± 525 kV high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line between central New Mexico and south-central Arizona, with the capacity to transport 3,000 MW of clean, renewable energy. Together, total investment of more than $8 billion and enough energy to power the needs of more than 3 million Americans. Both projects are privately funded and will deliver over $1 billion in estimated direct economic benefits to governments, communities, schools, and private landowners across Arizona and New Mexico.

JOB PURPOSE

The Meteorological and GIS team is seeking a Senior GIS Analyst TEMP position to support the construction tracking of our Sunzia transmission line and HVDC Stations in New Mexico and Arizona. The role will be responsible for collecting, organizing, and analyzing GIS layers from internal and external stakeholders. GIS data will be updated from desktop and field-based sources. Data will be updated daily and will require regular updates of project layers, maps, and web apps. The position will support the accurate dissemination of work products derived from data sources to be used to inform stakeholders. The position will work closely with the construction, land, legal, development, and meteorology departments to ensure desktop and field based GIS data is accurate and consistent across groups.. The position will work closely with the Senior Manager, GIS to standardize construction reporting and field data collection efforts to be used across our development and construction portfolio. Remote and onsite training of construction teams will be required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Quality control GIS data as it comes in from various sources, clean and update databases accordingly.
• Participate in the creation and maintenance of web and mobile applications for various company functions within development, construction, and operations.
• Ensure desktop and field data sources are accurate and consistent across internal and external teams.
• Collect, analyze, and organize GIS project data related to the construction of the Sunzia transmission line and HVDC Stations.
• Support cartography requests that provide other departments awareness of current activities through exhibits and/or web apps.
• Create, update, and manage HVDC GIS web applications and Survey123 forms.
• Work closely with other GIS team members to maintain consistency of spatial data across development, construction, and operational datasets.
• Perform analyses on GIS data from the field to capture changes from previous land agreements if applicable.
• Train field-based construction teams on GIS data collection standards via remote and onsite sessions.
• Aid in the creation of a GIS training plan to familiarize users with key products.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION REQUIRED Educational Requirements
Bachelors in geography, spatial science, GIS or related field

Required Work Experience

6-10 years of experience working as a GIS specialist

The expected pay range for this Temp/Contract role is $50 - $70 hourly.
