Job Description
Position Description

The Geographic Information System Analyst will analyzing spatial data through mapping software and designing digital maps with geographic data and various other data sets. The GIS analyst will support the relationship between PCS and Harris County residents by working to provide creative, user-friendly, informative mapping tools for the public.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Produce maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data, including environmental pollution hotspots and ecological monitoring locations
  • Analyze spatial data using, mapping software
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Communicate data patterns and trends through spatial mapping
  • Develop additional mapping applications and tools when needed
  • Use ArcGIS online platform create online services

Requirements

Education:
  • Master’s degree in environmental science, geography, surveying, engineering, architecture, or related field.
Experience:
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS desktop/ArcGIS Pro software and data management
  • Proficiency with ESRI online products (online map, story map, trackers, etc.)
  • 3-5 years relevant work experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Attention to details and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Experience with various technology methodologies and applications
  • Good interpersonal skills and willingness to be a team player.
  • Proficient in ArcGIS Desktop/Pro, ArcGIS online platform and Apps.
  • Outstanding quantitative skillset.
  • Analytic mindset.
  • Ability to effectively configure data

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
