GIS Analyst (226 Days) 199 -(RTP20230511-018)
Description

Perform demographic and geographic analysis of student data and census data and maintain annual
demographic reports; provide technical assistance and assist with maintenance of the geographic
information system (GIS) used in designing district attendance zones; use graphics software to design
and produce computer graphics for maps, presentations, and for the department website; liaison with city
and community organizations to stay abreast of economic and residential development within the district
which might impact student enrollment. Track and map building permits for residential developments.

1. Collaborate with all district divisions and community organizations on various projects
requiring GIS and demographic analysis; design presentation-quality, and interactive
maps and reports of the school district annually, showing demographic and enrollment
data as well as other customized data, upon request; software used will include, but is
not limited to Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Access), ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and
QGIS; reports and documents will require technical precision, financial accuracy,
readability, and editorial correctness
2. Communicate with local government and community entities to stay abreast of economic
and residential development that could affect district enrollment, and help gather GIS
data provided by those sources; track permit data and developments within the cities of
Dallas, Seagoville, Wilmer, Hutchins, and other cities within the district, and map results
by HS feeder patterns, using the district's GIS
3. Design attendance zone, trustee district, region, utilization and other pertinent maps
showing school locations within the district; to be provided online and made available for
printing
4. Provide technical support in the maintenance of computers, office equipment and
printers; assist in the maintenance and updates of software applications
5. Help monitor and track public charter school enrollment, expansion, growth, closures,
and any other changes that could impact Dallas ISD
6. Maintain GIS system with district information, roads, street assignments, and attendance
boundaries.
7. Respond to Public Information Requests per the Texas Public Information Act
8. Keep abreast of technical, legislative, professional trends, and developments affecting
assigned organizations and programs and disseminates this information to appropriate
personnel

Education

Work Environment
Office: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. There is minimal exposure to
environmental conditions such as outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, fumes, air borne particles,
etc.


Travel Requirements
Travel throughout the district may be required.
