We are currently seeking a Hedge Fund Controller/Director to join our growing Fund Accounting team. Ideal candidates will have at least seven years of experience working in Fund Accounting as a fund administrator, bank, or other financial services institution. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing organization, with plenty of career advancement opportunities. The role is based out of San Francisco with the flexibility to work on-site 2 days per week. We will also consider candidates on the west coast time zone. San Francisco, Walnut Creek, San Jose, Sacramento, Modesto, Fremont, San Diego. Los Angeles, etc.

Responsibilities

Controller/Director will be responsible for providing the following to our clients

• Responsible for the review of year-end fund and client tax reporting, including investor tax statements and tax returns, and coordination of timely completion of tax work
• Assist compliance team with regulatory filings
• Responsible for the review of year-end financial statements, including all statements and disclosures, and coordination with audit team for timely completion of audit
• Play an active role in the onboarding of new funds, including vendor review with clients
• Oversee daily portfolio reconciliations and trade review on internal portfolio management system, supervising internal team's liaison with prime brokers and custodians
• Review all monthly items including the operating expense schedules, month-end close packages containing financial statements and supporting files, transparency reports, and investor statements
• Liaise with the fund administrators for shadowing of the books, preparation of estimates, month-end NAV review, assistance with financial statement preparation, valuation of the portfolio, annual audit and tax work
• Provide corporate accounting department with regular reporting of revenues, AUM and performance
• Ad-hoc requests and special projects as necessary
• Oversee internal client servicing teams, to provide a team-based high quality work product encompassing daily, monthly and year-end finance cycle
• Review of hedge fund expense payments and budgeting
• Responsible for management company oversight as it relates to finance, budgeting and vendor review
• Liaise with the fund administrators and clients regarding investor relations requests and ad-hoc requests
• Serve as main point of contact with clients, to service all non-investment aspects of their firm

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail with a hands-on approach; willingness to dive deep into anything
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience; 2-3 years of managerial experience, preferably in Hedge Fund Accounting
• Ability to work autonomously and identify areas for continuous improvement
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Ability to problem solve and identify alternative solutions to complex situations
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, strong Excel skills a plus
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously

Compensation: A base of $125,000-180,000 per annum, plus bonus and benefits
