Groombuggy is the premier mobile dog grooming company in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are growing rapidly. We are taking a Silicon Valley tech startup approach to the mobile dog grooming industry. We are proud of the work we do to create great jobs for dog groomers and help pet owners care for their loved ones. We’re excited to become the next modern national pet brand.
We are looking for a Fleet Operations Manager. We are developing foundational fleet management practices as we have grown from 1 van to 10 in the past 15 months. We work mostly with Sprinter vans and anticipate our fleet growing very significantly over the coming months and years. Now it’s time to continue building on the foundation prior to moving into high-growth mode.
Alongside our dog groomers, our fleet is the core of our company. Our vans are our babies! You’ll be working closely with our General Manager who has been managing all things on the ground – groomers, grooming tools/equipment, van acquisition/maintenance and more. Your responsibilities will encompass all-things-vans – acquisition, onboarding, repairs and maintenance. You’ll be in charge of auditing, refreshing, and implementing all necessary systems, equipment, tools, and processes to make sure our van fleet is fully operational and maintains its value over the course of time.
This role is ideal for someone who has managed truck or van fleets before. You’ll be doing high impact work with a high caliber team in a very fun and high growth business. Also, a love for dogs is a plus!
We’re a fantastic, high quality team looking to grow quickly. Come join the pack!
You will be the chief van guru!
- Sourcing and building database of vendors for repairs and maintenance
- Further development of van management software - we currently use Fleetio, Samsara, and AtoB Gas Cards
- Identifying and implementing best practices to optimize vehicle utilization
- Standardizing all bullet points listed above in the context of a fast-growth, high-scale model to deploy in new markets nationwide
- Understanding general van maintenance schedules, but also basic grooming equipment maintenance. This also includes van cleanings and partnering with local service providers
- Van key management
- Identifying and implementing improvements in the van acquisition and onboarding process - from the moment a van is purchased until it is ready for operation by a groomer
- Fleet titling and registration
- Building and implementing systems for team to report incidents and incident management practices
- Warehousing and upkeep of all van data – currently done in Fleetio
- Managing the maintenance of our current and future fleet
- There are other van/equipment design ideas to explore as well!
Currently, all of our vans are in full operation, however, we want to be proactive in our fleet management and prevent any disruption in our operations. Prior to pushing the business into new markets, we want to have a polished fleet management playbook that can be deployed in any given market.
Success for this role is 1) identifying and implementing best practices for managing our fleet at scale and 2) making van onboarding and maintenance a straightforward, simple process for a happy, receptive team!
We’re looking for someone with the following skills and characteristics:
- Above all – fun, friendly, detail-oriented, highly organized, and positive!
- Bonus if you have substantial experience with cargo vans (ie. Mercedes Sprinters, Ford Transits)
- Clear communication, detail orientation, team collaboration, and personal organization.
- Bonus if you have experience at a tech-first growth startup.
- We imagine someone in this role will have 5+ years of experience in a fleet management role.
- A systems builder – your job is to build systems that scale for significant growth to come.
- Strong communication skills and a good manner with the internal team of dog groomers.
- Bonus if you have experience in Fleetio, Samsara or competing solutions.
- Enthusiasm and positivity.
We are based in the San Francisco Bay Area. However, we are a remote team and this role can be done remotely anywhere. Part of your job will be identifying and managing a network of on-the-ground contractors to help maintain and manage the fleet. We anticipate this person will likely be located in the United States and have experience working on the ground with an American fleet.
