Job Description


Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is seeking a collaborative, high-impact, and results-oriented Employee Relations Partner to join our People Business Partner team. The Employee Relations Partner is a key contributor to Applied’s talent management strategy as the organization builds, aligns, and scales a proactive and strategic HR function to meet the ongoing needs of the business. This individual will work closely with the People Business Partners to amplify our performance management culture.


Our People team is comprised of People Business Partners, Shared Services, and Centers of Excellence designed to support a global, industry-leading technology insurance company.


This role is responsible for assessing and recommending employee relations practices and developing best-in-class methods/tools to improve program effectiveness. The Employee Relations Partner is also responsible for supporting people managers in performance management to assist in the growth and development of our team members, including coaching, process improvement and documentation, employee relations management, performance plans, and investigations. Additionally, this person will, in collaboration with the People Centers of Excellence, assist the People Business Partners with leave of absence management, accommodation requests, work visas, acquisition support, policy updates, and other activities related to employee relations management.


What You’ll Do


  • Working closely with the Director, Ppl Business Partner, engage with the team to develop strategies to improve overall employee engagement and manager capability while promoting the importance of accountability and business results
  • Identify training and development opportunities for designated business segments and recommends appropriate programs; conduct training sessions as needed
  • On an ongoing basis, assess and modify existing programs and policies to ensure market competitiveness and alignment with Applieds’ culture
  • Assist the People Business Partners with leave of absence management, accommodation requests, work visas, acquisition support, remote work requests, and other activities related to employee relations management
  • Coach managers and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention to drive employee engagement and successful business outcomes
  • Support managers in drafting performance expectations, counseling talking points, performance improvement plans, and, when necessary, termination conversations and packages
  • Ensure core administrative processes and internal controls are executed with rigor, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Analyze employee relations to determine potential trends or issues and create action plans to prevent or mitigate i n the future
  • In collaboration with the People Business Partners, establish and maintain the Company’s performance management process, procedures, and documentation
  • Manage employee relations practices and investigations with a solid understanding of state and federal employment laws to reduce risk and ensure regulatory compliance


What You’ll Need To Succeed


We’re looking for someone who:


  • Can work remotely or in any of our Applied Systems offices.


Your experience should include some or all of the following:
  • Skilled at simultaneously managing both strategic initiatives and the execution of day-to-day deliverables
  • Intermediate to Advanced MS Office skills; experience with 1 or more HRIS systems, UltiPro/UKG a plus
  • Successful track record of working and thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced, and changing environment that is results-oriented and collaborative

  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee relations, diversity, performance management, organizational diagnosis, and federal and respective state employment laws; experience and knowledge of Canada employment law a plus
  • At least 5 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in tech, insurance, or business consulting environment
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with leaders
  • Bachelor’s degree required
