Job Description

The Director of Talent, HR, and Culture plays a crucial role in shaping an organization’s talent strategy, fostering an inclusive workplace, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and regulations. They are instrumental in attracting and retaining top talent, promoting diversity and inclusion, and creating a positive and engaging work environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

Talent

  • Partner with hiring managers and the leadership team on talent needs, recruitment strategies, and process improvements.
  • Work with the leadership team to set a strategic vision and priorities for all talent work, including an explicit equity lens.
  • Oversee recruitment and hiring (searches) of full-time staff and interns.

HR

  • Manage staff data system(s) to capture and organize all HR, performance review, and coaching/development information.
  • Ensures Federal, state, and local compliance regarding personnel matters and record keeping and recommends best practices for policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Oversee a high-quality HR operation, including HR policies and administering HR regulation, and communicates HR work in a supportive way.
  • Leads yearly staff compliance training and tracks completion.

Culture

  • Serve as the DEI content expert, providing recommendations to APIA Scholars leadership regarding readings, courses, and other professional development opportunities to support personal reflection and growth related to implicit bias and anti-racist practices;
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices to support and develop staff and build a professionally invigorating work environment where people can grow.
  • Regularly solicit feedback through staff satisfaction surveys and input from all staff both formally and informally and analyze data to drive ongoing continuous improvement efforts.
  • Lead courageous conversations with staff related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Develop DEI metrics and oversee ongoing monitoring to measure progress and inform continuous improvement practices.
  • Oversee the implementation of a diversity, equity and inclusion strategic plan.

Qualifications and Education

  • BA/BS’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, with a strong eye for detail, and a thoughtful, analytical approach to managing and completing complex tasks.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Suite of Programs.
  • 6+ years of years of related work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide support and guidance with new systems, processes, and technology.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in Human resource management, business administration, or higher education.
