Position Summary: As the Director of Operational Excellence, you will work closely
with senior executives to lead the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing
cross-enterprise integration of process optimization and fostering a continuous
improvement culture. Your role involves providing direct leadership and guiding
others in using formal problem-solving tools to improve processes and drive cost
reductions. Additionally, you will focus on creating a work environment that engages
employees at all levels to eliminate non-value-added work and simplify processes.
The position oversees a range of business, technical, and process improvement
opportunities across a supply chain region.
Essential Functions:
Act as a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to resolving
various business and general management issues, including strategic
planning and resource allocation.
Translate business vision and strategy into operational tactics, establishing
necessary organizational support and infrastructure.
Initiate and oversee business transformation and productivity initiatives to
improve operational execution and enhance customer experience.
Collaborate with functional leaders to monitor business operations' health
and actively execute improvement strategies where necessary.
Lead large-scale change management initiatives, implementing best practice
methodologies to re-engineer systems and processes if needed.
Demonstrate expertise in large-scale program management.
Design, develop, and implement plans for a flexible and efficient national
operational model that scales with organizational growth.
Develop and implement tools and processes to improve Key Performance
Indicators (KPIs) for optimum efficiency and quality.
Establish a reporting process to leverage metrics for driving operational
improvements.
Lead, inspire, and develop a talented team to support the strategic needs of
the business and drive efficiency and effectiveness.
Foster a culture of continuous operational improvement and build cohesive,
cross-functional teams.
Build strong, collaborative relationships within the assigned vertical/business
unit and with divisional teams.
Institutionalize process improvement methodologies and develop an internal
Lean and Six Sigma organization by training key operational employees.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline
is required.
Must hold a Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification.
A minimum of 8 years of experience in Operational Excellence is necessary.
At least 5 years of management experience in a service transactional
environment is essential.
Proven success in leading change initiatives, including the full
implementation of Lean and Six Sigma concepts.
Advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and
Minitab, is a must.
Expected Competencies:
Ability to assess operating units or value streams and provide clear
improvement recommendations.
Proficiency in Six Sigma and Lean Principles, such as Value Stream Mapping,
Kaizen, Continuous Improvement Process, DMAIC, and statistical problem-
solving tools.
Strong financial skills, especially in productivity and cost leverage.
Ability to execute strategic decisions effectively and adapt to changing
priorities.
Capability to challenge established processes and generate innovative ideas
for enhancing service and solutions.
Team building and influencing skills with unquestioned integrity, capable of
working across multiple regions and states.
Program Management Skills to drive initiatives across a national organization,
gaining buy-in from executives and high levels of engagement.
Effective communication skills, presenting solutions calmly even in
challenging situations.
Business Leadership, People Leadership, and Market Leadership skills to
articulate strategy, build relationships, and focus on client needs and growth.
Operational Excellence Leadership, embracing unproven initiatives and challenging projects crossing functional or unit boundaries.
