About the Role:
Optimal is seeking a new Director of IT. This individual will be crucial in overseeing and managing the organization's technology infrastructure, systems, and personnel. This person will be responsible for aligning IT strategies with the company's overall objectives, ensuring the smooth functioning of technology operations, and driving innovation to enhance business processes and efficiency. Additionally, this person will be responsible for managing a team of IT professionals and collaborating with other departments to meet their technology needs.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement the company's IT strategy in alignment with business goals and objectives.
- Identify emerging technologies and trends relevant to the medical supplies distribution industry.
- Evaluate the potential of new technologies and provide recommendations for their implementation.
Technology Infrastructure Management:
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and hardware.
- Ensure the security, reliability, and scalability of the IT infrastructure.
Application Systems Management:
- Oversee the implementation and management of enterprise software systems, such as inventory management, logistics, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify system requirements and ensure that applications meet business needs.
- Ensure data integrity and system availability through proper maintenance and support.
IT Team Management:
- Delegate tasks, set priorities, and monitor progress to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the IT team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Manage a team of IT professionals, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
Vendor Management:
- Evaluate vendor proposals and make recommendations for procurement of IT products and services.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to negotiate contracts, manage relationships, and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Security and Compliance:
- Develop and implement IT security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect company data and systems from internal and external threats.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, such as ISO Standards
Budgeting and Resource Allocation:
- Prepare and manage the IT department's budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
- Monitor expenses and identify areas for optimization or cost reduction without compromising quality and service delivery.
Stakeholder Management:
- Communicate IT strategies, project updates, and potential issues to executive management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, finance, and sales, to understand their technology needs and provide effective solutions.
Ideal Candidate:
· Bachelor’s degree in IT strongly preferred
· At least 10+ years of experience working in IT preferred
· At least 5+ years of management experience in IT preferred
· Foundational Information Technology experience across infrastructure and development
· Operational knowledge regarding Information Technology organizational responsibilities
· Understand ITIL framework and implement within the organization
· Bilingual in Spanish preferred
