Summary
The Director of Donor Acquisition and Engagement works to advance the ministry of Awana by leading donor acquisition and engagement strategies, particularly aimed at attracting and converting Awana constituents into donors. This individual brings strategic leadership to building and maintaining a mass donor giving program, donor communications, as well as giving workflows and tools. Ultimately, this role will be responsible and accountable for increasing the quantity and quality of financial supporters toward the mission and vision of Awana.
Responsibilities
- Oversees donor communication and execution, focusing on a journey for new donors and targeting donor lift and retention.
- Builds annual fund engagement and revenue growth through the launch of a monthly giving program, testing of digital advertisements, and internal donor lift strategies.
- Builds, mentors and leads assigned team, aligning with the Awana Strategic Execution Plan (SEP) and cultural values.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Partners with Major Donor and Foundations Team to ensure a congruous strategy and consistent experience as donors increase their giving.
- Collaborates extensively with Marketing, Content, and Creative teams to ensure development facing materials provide effective messaging, branding and opportunities for giving.
- Stewards assigned budget(s), allocating appropriate expenses for effective ministry in line with desired goals and objectives.
- Ensures team processes and work meet team standards of operational and cultural excellence, and enables the Awana executive leaders to focus on driving strong ministry outcomes.
- Supports, upholds and demonstrates the Awana cultural values in internal and external communications and relationships.
- Leads and builds long-term strategy for the donor annual fund including direct mail, digital communications, relational engagement, and other exploratory channels.
- Develops annual budgets for mass donor acquisitions and donor management.
- Supports donor events and relationship cultivation efforts for the greater development team.
- Architects and oversees Awana Alumni program to engage former Awana participants and encourage engagement with the ministry at large, including financial support.
Qualifications
- Experience in donor development, particularly with annual fund or mass donor strategies.
- Working knowledge of children’s inspirational or ministry space including demonstrated program/product familiarity preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ related experience in donor development strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with the U.S. Church landscape and/or global nonprofits preferred.
- Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) a plus.
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) desired with a concentration in business, nonprofit management or similar from an accredited college or university.
- Experience with DRM/CRM systems required; Salesforce experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience supervising/leading a business team.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office and Google Suite skills, with emphasis on excel preferred.

Estimated Salary Range for this Position: $73,000 - $75,000 Dependent on Experience - Generous PTO benefit
