The Development Analyst reports to the Executive Vice President of Development and is responsible for supporting the successful execution of the firm’s projects in Washington, DC, New York, and Toronto. To succeed in this role, the candidate will need exceptional project management skills.
Specific responsibilities will include the following:
- Any other duties as assigned
- Track schedules and ensure parties are prepared and informed of deadlines and deliverables
- Work with the sales, marketing, and leasing teams
- Work with Property Management to transition completed projects
- Work directly with and report to the EVP – Development, assist the EVP-Construction
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships across all participating parties, including government officials, neighbors, attorneys, architects, civil engineers, general contractors and all other 3rd party consulting relationships associated with projects
- Prepare and manage budgets, draws, cash-flows, schedules, pro-formas, and investor reporting
- Participate in all project team tasks and meetings from due diligence and acquisition through entitlements and construction
The applicant should be a self-starter who is detail-oriented, hard-working, and always has the “big picture” in mind. They should be creative and a problem-solver who is passionate about real estate development. Due to the quality of EastBanc’s products, the applicant should be able to understand its target market/users/buyers/renters. The applicant should also possess the following:
- The ability to work independently while meeting time sensitive deadlines
- Strong communication skills and an ability to interact with people at a variety of responsibility levels
- Strong quantitative capabilities with an intuitive sense of development economics, including modeling sensitivities, land prices, construction costs, financing structures, and unit lease rates/sale prices
- Ability to read architectural plans and a strong working knowledge of the construction and design process
- Some experience with the sales/leasing/marketing of residential/retail units/office
- A desire to network. Well-formed relationships in the local real estate, development and construction fields are a plus
- High attention to detail with exceptional judgement
- Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate with and motivate multidisciplinary teams internally (acquisition/development, marketing, construction, operations) as well as externally (architects, engineers, general contractors and partners)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Familiarity with the Washington, DC area development landscape preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of real estate experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher. Business/Finance and/or Architecture/Design related disciplines desirable. MBA or graduate degree with real estate concentration a plus
