Job Description
Purpose of Position
These are exciting times at the leader of private aviation! We are growing at a rapid pace and are looking for experienced technology leaders that are passionate about building and delivering innovative, scalable, and resilient technology solutions. As an Application Development Director, an integral part of the senior leadership at NetJets, you will collaborate with Directors and Vice Presidents across the business and technology organizations to influence, communicate, or be part of major decisions. You are a technologist with a strong record of accomplishments in solving complex business problems, who will lead by example to drive Agile delivery of simple, secure and innovative solutions. You should be comfortable talking tech with developers and architects, user experience with designers, numbers with finance, and strategy with executive leadership. You inspire and motivate teams to think big and help them align with the vision and strategy for both technology and the business. You systematically build and cultivate a culture of innovation. You communicate well at all levels with equal ease, operating effectively even when the way forward is not clear. You have an agile mindset and can coach & mentor your teams to incorporate modern engineering practices into their software delivery.
Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Build Team & Culture: Build a customer obsessed team which is technically fearless and applies their knowledge of the business, technology, and the marketplace to advance organizations goals.
  • Innovate: Pioneer innovative ideas for the organization to be successful
  • Hire and develop the best: Build a strong leadership bench. Instill mechanisms to hire, grow and retain talent, drive a day 1 culture indexing on problem solving, innovation and ownership.
  • Drive Technology Leverage: Champion modular technology services architecture and simplify the technology footprint across a diverse set of applications to create, leverage and accelerate time to market.
  • Influence Business Strategy: Deepen business fluency by listening to customers and stakeholders, understanding critical business metrics, and influence overall direction and strategy.
  • Deliver Customer Impact: Own, grow and mature applications to consistently address business pain points and achieve results even when circumstances are tough. Direct teams in building modern, secure and resilient self-healing solutions that scale and excel at performance.

  • Experience supporting mission critical (24x7) applications with the ability to instill a culture of continuous improvement reducing production outages/incidents driving stability and reliability
  • Prior experience developing leaders through coaching and mentoring.
  • Experience directing and guiding teams on building technology aligned to constantly evolving cyber security best practices while delivering features.
  • Ability to influence at all levels in a highly diverse and tight knit organization. Must be comfortable working with Developers, Quality assurance and Business Analysts roles on the team
  • Prior experience in building cloud native highly scalable, resilient, and innovative technology architectures. Prior experience leading teams employing modern engineering practices (Agile, Test-Driven Development, CI/CD pipeline, Continuous performance testing, Cloud Chaos testing
  • Ability to manage and prioritize across multiple applications and deliver them with high attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to think and influence both quantitatively and qualitatively.
  • 10+ years of experience in building and operating highly performing large-scale technology systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in managing executive level customer, stakeholder communication.
  • Ability to anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders to influence the velocity and scope of delivery.
  • Strong and persuasive written and verbal communication.
  • Data-driven decision making with ability to dive deep into data and translate insights into opportunities.
  • 5+ years of experience in building and leading large technology teams. Experience being a manager of managers preferred.
