Individuals will obtain practical experience and receive hands-on training in various disciplines, to include exposure to current non-profit and development practices, technologies, and research and the opportunity to apply findings and insights to fundraising strategies. Furthermore, you will further develop communication and presentation skills, and experience skills in team collaboration and project management.

Our Heart Challenge (Heart Walk, CycleNation and Field Day) and Hard Hats with Heart programs are integral to the Development and Field Campaigns Team and American Heart Association. These campaigns are executed in the field across the country, engaging thousands of volunteers and raising over $100M annually in support of the mission of the Association. We are seeking an intern with a passion for project management, research and helping others with efficiency. Ideal candidates have project management experience and have strong attention to detail.


The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

Individuals will obtain practical experience and receive hands-on training in various disciplines, to include volunteer recruitment/management, community event planning and management, public health research, community partner networking/connection, and program development/implementation.

Internship Overview:

  • Salary: $23.00 per hour
  • Internship Duration: 9/11/2023 - 12/8/2023
  • Remote position
  • Time Commitment: 20 -25 hours per week

Responsibilities:
  • The intern will conduct research on current and prospective American Heart Association corporate partners for our largest fundraising core campaigns.
  • Research Reporting Contributions
  • The intern will present findings and key insights to staff within the Association who carry responsibilities related to philanthropic and other revenue generating goals and relationships.
  • Our intern will compile research findings into clear and cohesive reports and organize findings and reports on a shared, secure internal site.
  • Interpret, analyze, and synthesize biographical and financial information on individuals, foundations, and corporations.
  • Segment data, synthesize information and disseminate results through written profiles and reports.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate and graduate students majoring in non-profit management or a related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written communications skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications
  • Background and interest in marketing, sales, or business is desired.
