Job Description
What Is The Role


Are you a bottom-line, results driven individual that prioritizes the customer in every decision? If so, then the Commercial Manager position is a highly impactful position managing all customer accounts within one or more product lines in the Chemicals and Products portfolio.


Customer’s needs are rapidly changing especially with respect to sustainability. The Commercial Manager, together with the sales executives will manage complex customer relationships to understand their needs and with the Commercial Director and Marketing, deliver value propositions that meet their requirements. Traditional sales accountabilities such as HSSE, negotiating and managing contracts, and complex relationship management are table stakes for this role. Within Shell, the Commercial Manager is expected to be the ‘voice of the customer’ and be responsible for delivering a customer centric environment to the relationships they manage.


The key accountabilities of this role:


  • Implementing the commercial HSSE Plan and driving HSSE leadership in partnership with Customers, Site, Supply and Logistics Operations colleagues.
  • Responsible for bringing insights in market back to organization and assisting Commercial Director and Marketing in the development and execution of the product line contracting and commercial strategy
  • Be a deputy to the Commercial Director
  • Growing and developing the sales and commercial competencies of staff.
  • Leading large, strategic negotiations and supervising Sales Executives in their negotiations.
  • Dimensions: 4 to 8 direct reports; Sales Volume: 1000 KT; Revenue: 1 bln USD
  • Developing and maintaining strategic customer relationships to maximize value for Shell through development and execution of superior customer value propositions.
  • Ensuring key commercial and contracting metrics are achieved (margin delivery, DSO, overdues, etc.)
  • Global lead for managing certain large accounts. Expectation that Commercial Manager is aware of all aspects of the customer relationship and defines connections to increase customer centricity.
  • Responsible for designing and leading complex (3d) negotiation strategies for largest contracts within the product line.
  • Along with Commercial Director, develop and deliver the Business Plan and sales related performance tactics


What We Need From You


Results driven, Inspirational and customer centric individuals are highly desired for this role and further you will have:


  • Proven relationship management experience in a B2B setting
  • 10+ years’ relevant commercial experience
  • Strong Team leadership experience growing and developing staff
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
  • Financial and business acumen
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree; MBA is preferred.
  • 3D Negotiation skills
