Job Summary

The Commercial Consultant invests in the future of Southwest’s People by supporting various Business and Technology driven initiatives, with a primary focus on the strategy and implementation of Commercial projects. Projects may include identifying and assessing potential Enterprise-wide business opportunities, leading portfolio management activities, and collaborating with various stakeholders to build business cases and deliver on initiatives. The Commercial Consultant has strong interpersonal and project management skills to help drive the future of Technology at Southwest.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Responsibilities
- Develop action plans to address operational challenges that are cross-departmental which can include business-centric artifacts such as process maps, job aids, change, communication, and training
- Lead and support multiple simultaneous projects which may be multifaceted, time critical and/or regulatory in nature
- Assemble cross-Departmental teams to identify solutions for complex problems and implement various corporate initiatives
- Coaches, mentors, and provides direction to team members without a direct reporting relationship
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders by aiding in the management of strategy / portfolio, and building business cases, what/if scenarios, driving analysis, recommendations, and delivery
- Manage and coordinate multi-departmental presentations to affected work groups, Senior Leadership, and Executives
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
- Partner with Leadership and Department SMEs to lead various activities required in the ongoing development of the Company's strategic plan, associated portfolios, and implementation of initiatives against the plan
- Develop and deliver executive-ready presentations to communicate insights from analyses to Executive Leadership
- Facilitate the demand management process, including shaping and prioritization discussions with stakeholders, and facilitates Senior Leadership prioritization and review
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lead discussions with stakeholders from multiple backgrounds who have conflicting priorities; act as mediator if Teams are not aligned and drive towards a recommendation or solution
- Skilled in building and maintaining relationships and a high-level of confidence and trust from Senior and Executive Leadership
- Ability to digest significant amount of detailed data and summarize relevant information for the appropriate stakeholder (e.g., Managers, Directors, VPs, etc.)
- Skilled in influencing, negotiation, consensus-buildering, and change management
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to work with loosely defined and changing priorities to conduct analysis, develop consensus, and make recommendations in situations with imperfect and incomplete information
- Education
- Skilled in analytics with ability to apply a methodical and logical approach to solving complex problems (Business and Technical) and identifying options for solutions
- Knowledge of project management, strategic planning, and portfolio management principles
- Ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with all levels of Employees up to and including Executive levels
- Ability to connect how projects and programs integrate with company objectives
Experience
- Financial planning
- Strategic planning
- Driving complex cross-functional initiatives and aligning stakeholders at all levels
- Advanced level experience, Seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
- Cross-functional planning and coordination
- Consulting
- Commercial aviation economics and performance drivers
- Executive-level storytelling
- Developing strategies, plans, and decisions, and communicating them to executive leadership
- Corporate governance
Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $127,000 to $131,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
