ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Perform various duties involving woodworking, floor laying, dry walling, plastering, Plexiglas pedestal fabrication and the like. Perform various carpentry tasks for the maintenance and repair of Museum’s buildings and grounds.
Work from sketches, knowledge of carpentry and written/verbal instructions.
Work with all types of woodworking power equipment such as planers, saws, sanders, drills, lathes, routers, etc., hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, planes, chisels, saws, drills, measuring instruments, clamps, vises and the like.
Maintain Museum’s woodwork: construct, install and repair doors, benches, shelves and related woodwork. Remodel offices according to specifications; build partitions, lay flooring. Install locks. Erect drywall, tape and seal joints. Construct pedestals, bonnets, laying Formica, shipping containers for art objects. Make and install hanger/supports for art objects.
Construct furniture for offices. Install hardware such as hinges, catches, drawer pulls, door hardware, etc.
Generate and maintain all necessary records/files/reports. Move materials as necessary or as directed. Report any unusual, unsafe conditions or circumstances, faulty equipment, or defective material, to immediate supervisor or others in management. Keep work area and equipment in a neat and orderly condition. Follow all prescribed safety rules and regulations. Attend all required safety training sessions.
Report to Construction Shop Supervisor.
Wear appropriate uniform and safety equipment (glasses, shoes, etc.).
Perform any other related duties as required or directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid US Driver’s license and / or Fork Lift Certificate
- Must be able to work professionally and tactfully with fellow employees, visitors and volunteers; deal with difficult people and / or stressful scenarios
- Must be physically able to meet all job requirements; ability to stand prolonged periods, climb, pull and lift heavy objects.
- Required to work indoors and outdoors in potentially cramped space,
- Must have effective oral and written communications skills with the ability to read, write and comprehend the English language
- Good interpersonal / communication skills are required.
SALARY AND SCHEDULE
Full-Time Hourly, 40 hours per week
Starting at $38.31 - $42.57 per hour, commensurate with experience
