Carpenter (Maintenance) - Labor Grade 114 / Pay Range: $21.64 - $30.50

SUMMARY

The Carpenter is responsible for performing carpentry, construction, repair or remodeling in accordance with standard trade practices.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Complete project planning tasks including estimating supplies, time, and material for projects; surveying and constructing detailed carpentry projects from drawings and blueprints; and inspecting and approving work of contractual employees
• Any other duties as assigned
• Finish high grade carpentry projects such as building or repairing shelves, cabinets, windows, furniture trim, or ceilings and partitions
• Maintain records or documentation and report on construction data as needed
• Perform general carpentry work that requires repairing, altering, and maintaining parish buildings and related structures such as cutting, shaping, and installing materials; forming concrete; framing; painting; electrical repair; or plumbing, etc.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent and (5) years of carpentry experience is required, 3 of which must have been at the journeyman level. General contracting license is preferred.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS – CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• The incumbent is required to have a current, and the ability to maintain, state of Louisiana driver’s license
• The incumbent is subject to a pre-employment physical and drug test with random drug testing thereafter
