We are seeking an experienced Business Operations Director to be a part of the leadership team responsible for the operations of a brand new, state-of-the-art facility nestled within the vibrant Walmart community in Bentonville, AR. With an expansive 360,000 square feet of space dedicated to aquatics, recreation, fitness, youth programming, and whole health, this facility promises to be a hub of vitality and enjoyment for individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

Key Accountabilities

• Ensures staff are properly trained according to established standards. Serves as a resource for Business Unit Directors and Coordinators in handling customer relations issues.
• Conducts formal performance appraisals of the Director and Coordinator level Business Unit staff on an annual basis and initiates formal corrective action process when warranted.
• Supports the GM in the development of outcomes focused programs to meet Walmart objectives; interfaces with the Walmart liaison(s) and peripheral departments as appropriate to assess needs and identify programming solutions.
• Other duties as needed/assigned.
• Coordinates overall recruitment efforts.
• Leads regular staff meetings with the Business Unit Directors and Coordinators and attends Direct Service group staff meetings to ensure associates are informed about HealthFitness, Walmart, and program events, initiatives and status.
• Approves and/or submits employment forms, payroll records and billing worksheets accurately and according to contract provisions and HealthFitness policies.
• Supports the GM with all business operational aspects of the facilities and program services, ensuring consistency amongst all of the Whole Health & Fitness business units (fitness, aquatics, recreation, member services, whole health, and youth activity).
• Supports the Business Operations Coordinator in collaboration with Walmart assigned facility maintenance, janitorial, and variable supply chains.
• Carries out staff supervisory responsibilities in accordance with HealthFitness policies, procedures and applicable laws including recruiting, orienting, and training, evaluating, developing and planning the succession of associates.
• Assists all staff in networking and peer interaction efforts.
• Provides staff training and development opportunities to promote and encourage career growth.

Education & Experience

• A minimum of 7+ years’ experience with the majority of that in a community environment.
• Certified Pool Operator certification preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals both within HealthFitness and Walmart.
• Interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
• Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands, meet deadlines, and collaborate with all business units.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook; and working knowledge of the member management system, databases, and tools.
• Supervisory experience, budget management, strong leadership, and team management.
• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Exercise Science, Recreation, Business, or related field.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certification through the American Heart Association, Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute.
