Job Description

Role, Team & Responsibilities:
Hiscox USA is currently searching for an underwriter to manage our US based underwriting teams. The position is an integral part of the Regional Management Team, cultivating new and driving renewal business across the US for our Entertainment and Media products. This is a great opportunity for a relationship-oriented individual who has the knowledge, broker relationships, experience and desire to lead a team, striving to consistently and efficiently produce at a high level.
  • Maintain excellent service standards
  • Oversee underwriting, pricing and negotiating of accounts to win new business and retain renewals, consistent with Hiscox underwriting guidelines and profitability targets
  • Work with operations, claims and marketing to build products and contribute to the financial performance of the unit
  • Drive marketing and new business development with our brokers
  • Oversee and be accountable for the portfolio of Entertainment and Media for the entire US
  • Lead, develop and manage a team of high-performing Field Underwriters, building a team and focusing their efforts to achieve results
  • Develop new relationships and maintain existing relationships with the regional broker base
  • Create and execute a National plan for the Entertainment & Media groups that will encompass Marketing, broker management, new business growth, and budget expectations
Person Specification
  • Strong wholesale and retail broker relationships
  • B.A./B.S degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Risk Management or a related field is preferred
  • People management experience preferred
  • 5 or more years of insurance underwriting experience
  • Sales orientation; comfort developing and maintaining broker relationships
The Ideal Candidate Will Also Possess
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
  • Strong understanding of sales principles, negotiation skills and demonstrate a competitive drive
  • The ability to identify business needs
  • 20-30% domestic travel required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Innate customer service mentality enabling one to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external customers and partners
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Comfort operating in a hybrid environment (mix of work from home, in-office and on-site with brokers)
Salary Overview
$160,000.00- $220,00.00
Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.
