The Associate Director for Communications is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing communications strategies for academic year and summer programs as assigned by the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications for the Summer Sessions and International Education Office. Serves as the primary coordinator, consultant, and source of written communication (digital and print), maintaining a consistent voice and tone for all marketing copy. The position will maintain an innovative and collaborative approach to coordinated message development and branding, utilizing digital and print media, news media, email, website, events, and social media platforms. Develops, edits, and distributes feature stories and press releases, as well as assists with strategic relationship-building. Plan, write, and execute highly effective email campaigns, to be continuously optimized for improved performance. Strong experience in website editing to provide consultancy to the organization's units, ensuring brand consistency, quality content, and optimized user experience.
Responsibilities

• The position will maintain an innovative and collaborative approach to coordinated message development and branding, utilizing digital and print media, news media, email, website, events, and social media platforms
• Develops, edits, and distributes feature stories and press releases, as well as assists with strategic relationship-building
• Plan, write, and execute highly effective email campaigns, to be continuously optimized for improved performance
• Strong experience in website editing to provide consultancy to the organization's units, ensuring brand consistency, quality content, and optimized user experience
• Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with campus departments, other administrative units and outside vendors
• Demonstrated ability to select and negotiate with a variety of vendors
Qualifications
• 5-8 years of experience in developing communication strategies, excellent copywriting and editing skills with a keen eye for detail, in higher education
• Strong experience with content management systems such as WordPress and proficiency in Google Analytics
• Strong knowledge of email marketing best practices, segmentation strategies, and deliverability optimization while staying up to date on email marketing trends
• Ability to accurately proofread
• Strong writing skills to compose and edit all marketing & communication campaigns for appropriate grammar, punctuation, structure, and content, to effectively engage the reader
• Analytical skills and ability to make cost/benefit analysis evaluations on marketing investment and make future recommendations based on analysis of findings
• Proficiency in platforms for email marketing platforms, social media, and project management software (e.g., Constant Contact, Sprout Social, Canva, Facebook/Instagram, Reddit, TikTok)
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and market to potential students
• Ability to identify the needs of unique customer segments, and develop specialized strategies to market to a diverse clientele
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement projects with complex logistics involving multiple tasks and priorities
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with diverse clientele and frequent deadlines
