Overview Of The Role

As a trusted advisor to company executives, the Director of Executive & Employee Communications aligns, inspires, and connects teams through clear, relevant communications. We are looking for a dynamic leader who understands what executives want to convey and listens closely to what employees want to hear. Shares the momentum and impact of an organization’s work with executives, stakeholders, collaborators, and the whole company. Tells stories that travel, stories with heart.

In this role you will help drive a culture of performance, agility, accountability, alignment, and collaboration across the organization. Short-term goals and long-term brand value drive the work.

You will be a member of our high-impact Business Unit Communications team and report into the Vice President (VP), Executive & Employee Communications, as part of the Global Communications team.

Responsibilities

  • Produce large, leader-hosted Town Halls and All Hands - calendaring, content, in-person experience, Slack engagement, and post-event survey
  • Partner with Public Relations peers to ensure the internal communications strategy aligns with the external narrative
  • Partner with Employee Success and Finance business partners to support their messages to the organization
  • Work closely with company executives to understand strategic priorities and build an internal communications plan to convey them
  • Provide useful employee insights to company leaders through formal and informal feedback mechanisms; suggest topics that employees need to hear more about
  • Inspire employee attendance at internal events
  • Develop compelling Slack-first communications that drive awareness of key initiatives and inspire employees to take action
  • Enable all employees on major company initiatives - strategic events, campaigns, product news, etc.
  • Track results and apply key findings to improve future content and engagement; share best practices as a member of the BU Communications team
  • Provide employee experience insight and guidance to the Employee Success communications team as they form their communications plans
  • Participate in weekly executive meetings and quarterly onsites to keep current on the business and shifting strategies
  • Complete senior-level org change comms that start with the “why” and chronologically manage every communication, with an eye on the employee experience
  • Draft updates on the momentum and impact of our organization’s major work in the form of slide presentations, Slack posts and emails
  • Engage representatives from each sizable team who can help you keep a finger on the pulse of the employee experience

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to quickly grasp information across a variety of subject areas and subsequently develop clear communications with minimal guidance
  • Understanding of (and preferably facility with) Slack as a primary communications channel, both for communications and collaboration
  • Experience will be evaluated based on alignment to the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer work, etc.)
  • Extensive experience working with senior executives including the ability to build impactful executive-level relationships, the ability to adapt communications to a leader’s voice with a commensurate understanding of how to collaborate effectively
  • Stellar short and long-form writing and storytelling skills, with an ability to generate and implement breakout ideas
  • 10+ years as a successful internal communications leader in a fast-paced environment with a strategic and organized approach to developing clear and compelling communications
  • Proven experience with Google Slide design and editing
  • Demonstrated ability to create an internal communications strategy that is focused and agile as priorities shift

Preferred Qualifications

  • A beginner’s mind and a steadfast curiosity about what’s up and where we’re going
  • Consistently high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; unflappable in the face of shifting priorities and difficult situations
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and exert influence without authority; confident in voicing opinions, both positive and contrary
  • Stellar problem-solver with a solution-agnostic approach; Ability to re-prioritize on the fly without fluster
  • Experience in the technology industry
  • Ability to confidently and optimally lead, manage, and complete multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced, often ambiguous and constantly evolving environment;
