Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Duties Include
- Scheduling of graduate TA assignments in consultation with the Director of Graduate Studies
- Development and presentation of an orientation to summer/winter session instructors in consultation with the Chair
- Preparation and management of budgets and department accounts
- Preparation of faculty/area financial statements
- Coordination of space, equipment and computer allocations and complete associated recordkeeping and reporting
- Interface with Harpur College finance office
- Administer the Resource Committee
- Establishment of teaching schedule each academic semester, winter and summer session, in coordination with the Chair and Executive Committee; monitoring of enrollments
- Preparation of yearly curricular plan in coordination with the Chair and Executive Committee
- Assist in training of new staff and faculty
- Building Administrator for Science IV; preparation and tracking of all service requests, coordination of renovations, key assignments and maintain building security key card access system
- Coordination and tracking of faculty and department purchases

- The ability to exercise sound judgement, discretion, and confidentiality regarding all matters relating to the department, the college, and the university
- Expertise in use of spreadsheets and databases
- Strong organization and time management skills including the ability to prioritize workload
- Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Commitment to a culture of diversity, equity, respect and inclusion; demonstrated ability to build working relationships with people having a wide variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences
- The ability to work independently with a high level of initiative
- Experience with budget management
- A bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of administrative experience
- Excellent computer skills and a willingness to become adept in new university software packages and procedures
- Knowledge of and experience with BU administrative systems
- Proficiency with Google Office Suite
- Experience in higher education
