About the lab:

Work in Werner's lab explores molecular targets within the brain such as receptors and intracellular pathways that may play a role in alcohol action. They employ many molecular, biochemical and neuropharmacological methods in cellular and animal models to assess the role of various gene-products in alcohol's effects during development. Additionally, their lab is interested in the molecular basis of various neuropsychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Position Duties

We are seeking a full-time laboratory research technician to assist in research investigating age- and sex-related factors contributing to alcohol use disorder using rodent models.

Responsibilities Include

• Running behavioral experiments according to detailed protocols;
• Handling live animals for behavioral testing;
• Maintaining lab equipment and coordinating with equipment suppliers for troubleshooting and
• Collecting and processing tissue samples;
• Maintaining complete and accurate laboratory records;
• Coordinate sample testing with collaborators;
• Documenting processes and standard operating procedures;
• Maintaining lab organization and a high quality, clean and safe laboratory environment;
• Inventorying and ordering lab supplies;
• Maintaining transgenic rat colonies;

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Bachelor's Degree in neuroscience, biochemistry, biology, psychological sciences or related field.
• Occasional night, weekend or holiday work will be required.

Preferred

• At least 1 year experience in a laboratory environment, ideally in an environment that utilizes neuroscience and/or behavioral testing approaches in animal models.

Additional Information

Salary: $35,000 annually
