Warden I (#017311) Turbeville Correctional Institution, Turbeville (Clarendon) Level 2

Job Responsibilities

• Supervises maintaining the sanitation of the institution, buildings, property etc.
• Serves as duty warden and in the capacity of the warden during his/her absence.
• Other duties as required.
• Supervises the implementation and executing of laws, policies, rules, and regulations, as well as operating procedures including OSHA regulations.
• Under general supervision of the warden, the incumbent will assist in the daily planning and coordination of the institutional operations including security, administration, and support for the institution.
• This includes directors at SCDC headquarters.
• Prepares (writes) various reports, special studies, and staff papers, including recommendations relating to proposed changes in policies, operating procedures, rules, regulations, and laws.
• Supervises security, custody, and control of inmates, counseling them as necessary.
• Writes policies and procedures for a level ii institution.

Must successfully complete eight (8) week SCDC Basic Training Upon hire.

Minimum And Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor's degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements: (Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

• A masters degree and one (1) years responsible administrative/management experience in a correctional environment, one (1) of which should be in a correctional supervisory capacity;
• A bachelor's degree and three (3) years responsible administrative/management experience in a correctional environment, one (1) of which should be in a correctional supervisory capacity;

OR

• An associate degree and five (5) years responsible administrative/management experience in a correctional environment, one (1) of which should be in a correctional supervisory capacity;

OR

• A high school diploma and seven (7) years responsible administrative/management experience in a correctional environment, one (1) of which should be in a correctional supervisory capacity.
