Job Description
Welcome to Grayson College. Grayson College is in the heart of Grayson County and provides a vital link for higher education. GC offers small classes for personalized instruction, affordable tuition, caring, professional faculty, and the convenience of day, evening or online classes. The college serves approximately 5,000 students annually. Vice President of Information Technology leads and directs the development, integration, and implementation of large, complex information technology programs, products, and services, and manages the daily operations of the IT team.


The salary range for this position is $95,822.74 to $143,734.10 per year.

  • 20% Forms the vision for infrastructure and support services and their delivery. Defines and executes short-term and long-term plans linked to the college's strategic plan, and establishes a strategic technology road map in partnership with the office of instruction, student affairs, business services, and the Grayson College foundation office.
  • 20% Responsible for providing a high level of service and IT support. Maintains and monitors the campus IT help desk to identify and resolve challenges with campus information systems. Continues to develop a responsive and customer service focused team.
  • 10% Develops effective relationships with senior leaders, key technology vendors, IT team member and other key stakeholders. Maintains effective working relationships with all internal constituents, including business and functional leaders.
  • 10% Manages compliance and system security. Promotes the use of industry standard processes and frameworks, and adherence to internal control practices.
  • 5% Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • 10% Directs the administrative functions of the information technology department, including budgeting, performance monitoring, reporting, planning, and staff management.
  • Vacation Accrual- 2 weeks per year
  • Tuition-FT employees, their spouse & dependents are eligible for coverage of full Grayson College tuition amount.
  • 5% Coordinates the evaluation of complex technical issues and vendor proposals with senior staff members.
  • 10% Develops communication protocols to understand the IT priorities and to communicate plan and initiatives to address those priorities.
  • 10% Ensures neither team nor technology-based single points of failure exist; focuses on team and technology redundancy.
  • Sick Leave Accrual- 2 weeks per year

  • Maintains awareness of emerging trends in information technology and best practices to solve information technology challenges.
  • Support student success by ensuring that information technology services meet the current needs of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Maintains and develops a qualified staff sufficient to meet the needs of department operations

  • Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations relating to higher education and information technology.

Experience Five years to ten years of similar or related experience.


Education A Bachelor's degree


Interpersonal Skills The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position. Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions


Other Skills Strong project management and risk management skills. Thorough knowledge of hardware systems, system software, networks, and application software development. Thorough understanding of information technology and best practices in a college environment


Physical Requirements Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office


Work Environment The work is typically sedentary. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to do the work.
