The Vice President of Data & Insights is responsible for data management, analytics, reporting, and data-driven insights to help the organization identify and take advantage of new business opportunities. The VP will help Connexus build and mature this function, identifying areas of need, tool and data requirements, and organizational structure and capabilities. This senior leader will be responsible for everything from revolutionizing the credit union’s reporting and visualization capabilities, to building out forecasting models and eventually a Data Science Function. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the VP will have substantial exposure to company executives, who will seek input on many major initiatives.
Responsibilities:
  • Understand and monitor the regulatory and security requirements for data related to the industry, ensuring compliance and proper protection occurs.
  • Assess and review new technology opportunities related to Data Management, and how these will impact the organization’s Data Management operations.
  • Lead the organization’s data and insights (D&I) function, focusing on strategic development and operation of the business intelligence, analytics, data warehousing and data science practices.
  • Manage the development, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and support of information management systems, ensuring high availability and security.
  • Work with key business stakeholders to design and develop scorecards, dashboards, and related reports necessary to track metrics across multiple domains.
  • Develop business justifications and cost benefit analysis for data related spending and initiatives.
  • Identify and drive data quality enhancement opportunities to support high-integrity reporting.
  • Participate in strategic and operational governance processes as a member of the Business Technology Leadership team.
  • Define the short- and long-term strategies for the data and insights function to ensure effective delivery of information that meets current and future requirements.
  • Work with senior management in setting short and long-term technology plans that promote credit union growth and enhance services to members.
  • Review and make recommendations on technology acquisitions related to data assets.
  • Identify opportunities for the organization to further leverage data and improve its economic, competitive, and operational positioning.
  • Responsible for documentation accuracy and completeness to comply with regulations, technology best practices, function coverage and disaster recovery.
  • Lead prioritization processes related to Data Management and Business Intelligence initiatives.
  • Ensure data assets in the organization are managed in a secure manner, adhering to security and privacy requirements.
  • Assist with the preparations of an annual budget that is consistent with the overall strategic plan for Business Technology and the credit union.
  • Review and monitor the organization’s data related technology procurements and resourcing.
  • Act as a change champion, drive enterprise-wide data technology transformation initiatives and ensure successful implementation.
  • Effectively foster and maintain relationships with 3rd party vendors by researching, recommending, and negotiating for the purchase of software, peripherals, maintenance, and consultants as appropriate to support the information systems infrastructure.
  • Lead management reviews and opportunity assessment processes that identify improvement opportunities related to process efficiency, cost savings, business model expansion, and competitive advantages.

Position Requirements:
  • Strong technical knowledge of data management systems, data warehousing methodology, data quality, data modelling, data governance, analytics, and predictive modeling is Required.
  • 7+ years of experience in Data Analytics Senior Management level leadership position of a mid-to-large sized financial services organization is Required
  • Expertise in modern data technology stacks, cloud platforms, Agile and DevOps practices, data lakes, ETL/ELT tools, and ML pipelines as well as strong understanding of AI, business intelligence design principles, data modeling, and supporting technology architectures and frameworks is Required
  • In-depth knowledge and proven experience in BI/, database management and programming methodologies is Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience is Required
  • Experience working for a Credit Union, Bank, or in Financial Services is Required
  • Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills.
  • 10+ years of related experience in technology roles is Required
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and lead people and teams
