Vice President, Engineering and Quality Control

General


The VP, Engineering and Quality Control will oversee management of all areas of Engineering and Quality. The job responsibilities are focused on strategic planning, efficiency improvements, cost reductions, process improvements, and other high-level objectives.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities


  • Formulate and recommend policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and in achieving profitability objectives.
  • Develop quality control plans and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of product quality that conforms to established customer, industry, and company standards.
  • Achieve optimum employee levels with appropriate amounts of overhead and expenditures to meet an annual budgetary plan.
  • Hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy.
  • Assist in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning.
  • Focus on day-to-day production support and problem solving.
  • Develop engineering plans and establish procedures for maintaining high standards of product design.
  • Prepare regular reports on product quality, performance, and compliance for management review.
  • Analyze data, conduct trend analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product performance and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations, consulting with the Human Resources Department as appropriate.
  • Establish and enforce quality control processes, procedures, and documentation, including inspection and testing protocols, to ensure product integrity.

Qualifications

  • At least eight years’ experience in the engineering of overhead cranes, hoists, and end trucks required, preferably in the heavy industrial crane sector.
  • Experience managing a large, diverse group of engineers.
  • Detailed understanding of AWS D14.1 or D1.1 as well as CMAA 70.
  • Strong understanding of quality control standards and methodologies.
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, structural or civil) is required.
  • SolidWorks and/or Inventor experience preferred.
  • Experience with 3D cad software required.
  • Six Sigma green or black belt certification is preferred.
