This position serves as a Human Resources Coordinator for the College of Education in the Operations and Finance Unit. This role provides administrative support to the human resource functions as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance and general administrative duties. The primary job duties and responsibilities include: coordinating hiring and on-boarding in a centralized HR office; providing support to the HR team; assisting with college-level listservs, payroll functions and other duties as assigned to carry out the mission of the College of Education and Michigan State University.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in human resources, a related social science field, or a field related to the operations of the department; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a human resources function or an area related to departmental operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Microsoft Office365 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio; experience with University systems including Business Intelligence;PageUp applicant tracking system; experience assisting in developing policies and procedures surrounding Human Resources and related business functions; experience in a Higher Education environment; knowledge of University policies and procedures, especially in the field of Human Resources; experience in a service based work environment; experience in performance management, classification, compensation, professional development, and employee relations; interpersonal skills that reflect courtesy, tactfulness, and respect toward others; excellent verbal and written communication skills; a self-motivator with the ability to work independently and exercise good judgment and discretion especially when handling confidential and sensitive data; ability to multi-task and prioritize work accordingly to meet critical deadlines while staying on task with other assigned duties and responsibilities.
