As a Unit Human Resources Administrator II, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty, staff, and academic leaders, contributing to the growth and success of our academic community.
Role Overview
In this position, reporting to the Provost Budget and Personnel Officer, you will provide strategic and operational support for human resources functions within the Provost and Faculty and Academic Staff Affairs major administrative units. As a vital resource, you will liaise with central MSU Human Resources, interpret and implement HR policies, and lead in integrating DEI best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and administer all aspects of Human Resources, ensuring compliance with policies and collective bargaining agreements.
Serve as a strategic staffing advisor, contributing to employee onboarding, orientation, and performance evaluation processes.
Collaborate with MSU central HR and unit HR representatives, ensuring alignment with policies, practices, and procedures.
Resolve complex HR issues and provide guidance to faculty, staff, and student employees.
Support recruitment efforts by participating in interviews and promoting diversity and inclusivity throughout the process.
Organize and conduct orientation and onboarding activities for new employees.
Foster an inclusive and diverse culture within the unit, promoting an environment of growth and mutual respect.
Lead organizational initiatives and projects, driving positive change across the academic community.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, with 3-5 years of experience in managing HR functions and implementing training programs.
Master's degree in human resources, higher education administration, or related field (desired).
Experience in human resource/labor relations management and computer applications.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling effective interactions with university leaders.
A strong service mentality and the ability to handle difficult conversations effectively.
Practical knowledge of DEI best practices and their integration into HR processes.
