Position Overview
You will serve as a strategic partner, collaborating closely with department administrators and central Human Resources. Reporting to the Provost Budget and Personnel Officer, your mission will be to administer and coordinate HR activities, interpret and implement HR policies and practices, and support the overall success of employees through effective onboarding, orientation, and performance evaluations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate all Human Resources functions, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with policies and collective bargaining agreements.
Champion Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, integrating them into HR strategies and fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
Act as a strategic staffing advisor, facilitating recruitment efforts and providing input to search committees in accordance with Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action guidelines.
Resolve complex HR issues and provide guidance to faculty, staff, and student employees.
Conduct orientation and onboarding activities for new employees, ensuring a positive start to their journey with the organization.
Oversee the Performance Excellence Program and recommend training programs to support professional development.
Represent the unit in various forums, including grievances, arbitrations, worker's compensation hearings, and labor negotiations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, along with three to five years of progressive HR experience, including managing HR functions and implementing training programs.
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in human resources, higher education administration, or a related field, and experience interacting with executives.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage with leaders across the University.
A strong service mentality, capable of having difficult conversations effectively.
Practical knowledge of DEI practices and their integration into HR functions.
