Unconfined Team Member (Volunteer)

Welcome! We are looking for passionate high school and university students to join the Unconfined team as volunteers. We have five smaller teams open for recruitment: the Infographics Team, Graphic Team, Promotion/Media Team, WeChat Outreach Team, and the Art Project team!

Why join the Unconfined team? You will be a member of a network of creative-minded individuals aiming to make an impact on not only the local community but also the world! Furthermore, if you are a student looking to build your portfolio or personal statement for applications of any kind, we will offer guidance to help your application stand out from students who have already gone through the process! See below for specific volunteer positions that are open.

Infographic Team

Members of the infographic team write infographics and blog articles that are posted on our website and social media to educate our audience on real-world topics.

Responsibilities

• 1-2 hours a week spent writing and proofreading
• Bi-weekly Zoom meetings

Qualifications

• Experience in research and activism
• Enrolled in advanced/college-level English classes
• Most importantly, a passion to spread awareness on real-world topics on social media!

Graphics Team

Members of the graphics team design graphics, such as event promotion posts, art project showcases, infographics, and event flyers. They should be willing to accept and apply constructive criticism about design layout, ability to match graphic aesthetics with social media feeds, etc.

Responsibilities

• 2-4 hours a week spent designing graphics and proofreading
• Bi-weekly Zoom meetings

Qualifications

• Experience in Adobe software, such as Adobe XD and Adobe Photoshop
• Most importantly, a passion for graphic design to spread awareness on real-world topics on social media!
• Enrolled in art/design classes

Promotion/Media Team

Members of the promotion/media team maintain Unconfined's social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. They should be experienced in social media marketing, tracking audience interest in Unconfined's content, and writing compelling captions for posts.

Responsibilities

• Weekly Zoom meetings
• 1-3 hours a week spent designing graphics and proofreading

Qualifications

• Most importantly, a passion to expand and promote Unconfined's initiative in innovative and creative ways!
• Experience in social media marketing and strategy

Specific roles open for Promotion/Media Team

• Instagram Manager

Will oversee account management for Instagram, including posting content, and expanding user engagement through Instagram stories and polls.

• Marketing Consultant

Report performance analytics on Instagram and TikTok and implement marketing strategies to expand Unconfined's audiences.

WeChat Outreach Team

Members of the WeChat Outreach team work together to translate, write, revise, and publish Unconfined articles on our very own WeChat Official Account (公众号), as well as conduct any forms of operation and communication on the Unconfined WeChat platform.

Responsibilities

• Bi-weekly Zoom meetings
• 2-3 hours a week spent designing graphics and proofreading

Qualifications

• Be bilingual in Mandarin and English
• Experience in Adobe software, such as Adobe XD and Adobe Photoshop
• Be well-versed in various WeChat features and functions
• Most importantly, a passion to expand and promote Unconfined's initiative on WeChat and to our international audiences!
• Complete work according to the PDT/PST time zone

Art Project Team

Members of the Art Project team create monthly art pieces inspired by current-day topics (ex: women's rights, climate change, LGBTQ+ rights) and will be expected to write artist statements each month. Team members may also be expected to create an art curriculum and host free educational workshops. In the past, the team created clothing designs for the production line that may be resumed.

Responsibilities

• 2-3 hours a week spent creating monthly art pieces
• Bi-weekly Zoom meetings

• Be enrolled in advanced/college-level art/photography classes
• Most importantly, a passion to use your skills and experience for good!
