Job Summary
This position supports the CalFresh Healthy Living, University of California (CFHL, UC) mission of partnering with under-served Californians to improve their health by promoting awareness, education, and community change through diverse partnerships, resulting in healthy eating and active living. This position involves designing, conducting, and supporting training efforts for CFHL, UC Staff. The Training Specialist serves as an expert in training with a focus on expanding employee skills, knowledge, and abilities, thereby contributing to the success of individual employees and the CFHL, UC program. This position serves as a technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in nutrition, physical activity, obesity prevention, and public health. The primary responsibility of this position is to develop, design, deliver, and evaluate virtual and in-person training and professional development programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive experience in training design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Advanced presentation skills.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum design, development, and instructional design principles as applied to adult learning.
- Advanced understanding of webinar platforms (e.g. Zoom) and demonstrated experience with e-learning development software (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Articulate) preferred
- Advanced skills in planning, resourcing, and monitoring effective training delivery.
- Background in training development related to public health and obesity prevention.
- Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, public health, education, or another related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in the field of health equity.
- Ability to perform multiple simultaneous tasks at any given time in order to meet or exceed specific objectives and project milestones.
- Experience collaborating with state-level partners to identify and achieve shared outcomes.
- Master’s degree in nutrition, public health, education, or another related field.
- Knowledge of federal nutrition programs (e.g., Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed).
- Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to interact successfully and efficiently with a wide range of individuals.
- Demonstrated skill in conducting needs assessments and task analyses preferred.
- Registered Dietitian
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills to anticipate and identify issues, evaluate information, analyze trends and propose actions.
