Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is looking for a Non-Destructive Test Tech 4 to support the Aerospace Structures Business Unit in Iuka, MS.
Job Summary:
Conduct NDT (Nondestructive Testing) tests using specific techniques on aerospace products. Understand products, equipment set-up, and NDT operations. Follow specific operating procedures. Use safety specifications. Interpret and evaluate test results.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Level III in developing specific test techniques
- Work with UT and X-ray generating equipment
- Interpret, evaluate, and report evaluation results, as required and outlined
- Maintain required job skills and knowledge of requirements (including procedures, specifications, etc.)
- Set-up, operate, calibrate, and perform Process Control Checks on NDT equipment by following established instructions and record results
- Maintain work area, equipment, and all documents/records to be audit ready at all times
- Completes these and other job duties as instructed
- Process parts in accordance with procedures and technical instructions to evaluate for weld, braze, and/or casting discontinuities exceeding specified requirements
- Provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) to Level I NDT Inspectors and fellow Level II NDT Inspectors
- Review routers, procedures, specifications, and other instructions for completeness and instructions to perform operation
- Fill out required logs and statistical data sheets, as required
Basic Qualifications:
- 6 years manufacturing experience in nondestructive testing (Radiographic Testing Method)
- Ability to lift up to approximately 25 pounds. May occasionally lift 50 pounds (with assistance)
- Documented radiation safety training
- Ability to read and interpret blueprint and engineering drawings and be able to document non-conformances as required
- Must have documented hours for Training, and Experience per NAS-410 Radiographic Testing Level II
- Computer skills
- High School Graduate/GED
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Currently or previously certified to NDT Level III in UT and Level II X-ray in accordance with NAS-410
- Must pass General, Specific, and practical exams within a reasonable amount of time.
- Ability to utilize measuring devices including comparators, micrometers, scales, and calipers
- Ability to obtain a secret security
- Successfully pass vision screen and Color blindness
Preferred Qualifications:
- Willingness to cross train in other NDT methods
- Certification in other NDT methods (Flash thermography) strongly desired
- Experience with Multiple brands of Flaw detectors strongly desired.
- Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, and other Quality / NDT auditing / accreditation systems strongly preferred
- As needed, available to work extended or flexible schedule on short notice
- Experience in the interpretation of flaws in Composites desired
- Experience with digital/computed radiography (CR) strongly desired (familiarity with GE CR systems and software a plus)
- Manufacturing processes) and defects associated with these processes as they relate to NDT
- Written instructions, procedures, and specifications related to the applicable NDT process(es)
- The NDE method primarily working in and its limitations (written, practical, and physical examinations required for qualification/certification)
- Positive attitude and ambition to excel / advance in skills and knowledge
- Experience with MAUS systems strongly desired.
- Experience with Automated Through Transmission Systems strongly desired.
- History of working effectively with coworkers, managers, and other employees in a team environment
- Aerospace or aviation experience strongly desired
- Ability to work under general direction with minimal supervision
- Must be able to demonstrate proficiency or willing to take classes in:
- Attention to detail and an ability to produce error-free products and accurately complete paperwork
