Job Description

The Technical Sales Representative will provide consultative and technical sales support to Oilfield Service Companies and E&P Companies.


What You Will Do

  • Be proactive and forthcoming on the client needs and targeted solutions for your sales team. Identify potential areas for expanded business opportunities.
  • Facilitate multiple levels of relationships at your clients to probe and develop new and expanded sales opportunities, new product development and new applications for existing Chemistry Technologies.
  • Interface directly with Research and Innovation and sales management to convey technical needs and other necessary information from the client.
  • Draw upon external engagements to identify and distill current and future technology development opportunities.
  • Specifying market requirements for current and future products.
  • Coordinate appropriate personnel including but not limited to Supply Chain, Operations, GGE, Research, Development, and Field Services, in support of commercial and product development opportunities.
  • Ongoing product line marketing maintenance to assure that product features, pricing and promotional activities are all appropriate to the market.
  • Key channel of communication for technical information related to products and services, between sales function, research personnel and client.
  • Drive short and long-term client strategies.
  • Effectively deliver technical and sales presentations both internally and externally, including but not limited to technical trade shows, client meetings, lunch & learns and internal technical reviews. Effectively communicate in both small and large format settings.
  • Assist coordination of product strategies, lifecycle management, and launch of new products between sales, technology, supply chain, operations, and marketing on individual product segments.
  • Support business development efforts as it relates to requests for proposals or related bid and tender processes to identify appropriate products and services for particular commercial opportunities.


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.


Experience required


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Scientific Discipline
  • Advanced knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
  • 2+ years of specialty chemical sales experience or sales support in the oil and gas upstream market.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office packages – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Knowledge of stimulation, production, and cementing procedures/operations.
