Tax And Regulatory Staff Accountant

BMD, Inc., is hiring for a Tax & Regulatory Staff Accountant for our corporate office in Galt, CA.

The primary job functions of this position will revolve around the analysis, preparation, and submission of required Federal, state, and local tax, regulatory, and other filings for BMD and each of its subsidiaries.

The Tax & Regulatory Staff Accountant will assist in researching and compiling data as it relates to sales tax and other regulatory audits being performed on BMD or any of its subsidiaries.

The Tax & Regulatory Staff Accountant also performs tax reconciliations at the state level, working in conjunction with the Accounting Department for proper posting to the general ledger and financial statements for all its entities.

This position is remote.

Essential Functions:

• Complete and file all state and local tax returns, including sales & use, property, etc.
• Participate in special projects as opportunities arise and within established timeframes, take ownership of projects and follow through to completion.
• Identify and research federal, state, and local tax, fleet, environmental, and other regulations, report on their application, and work with Senior Tax & Regulatory Accountant and management to implement necessary process changes.
• Assist in the research and preparation of compiling data for and communicating with regulatory agencies performing audits or other inquiries on any of the entities.
• Complete and file all Federal, state, and local regulatory filings including, but not limited to, business licenses, fictitious name filing, SOS annual reports, Census Bureau reports, DMV filings and any others as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience researching, calculating, and filing multi-state sales and use tax returns preferred

• Minimum of 1 year experience with fuel tax, DMV filings, environmental reporting, or other tax or regulatory filings preferred.

• Intermediate to advanced level ability with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.

• Experience researching various tax regulations and assisting in developing procedures to comply therewith is desirable.

• Experience working with and maintaining Avalara tax software is desirable

Education

Bachelors or better in Accounting or related field.
