Job Description
Job Overview

Advocate Construction, a rapidly expanding residential roofing company with a presence in CO, MO, WI, MI, IL, KS, and TX, is seeking a Staff Accountant who appreciates a highly structured environment. We are looking for a candidate who not only enjoys the various facets of accounting but also finds satisfaction in repeatable, high-quality work outcomes.


This role will collaborate closely with our Director of Accounting based in Fort Myers, FL, and assist with occasional administrative tasks in a professional, service-oriented atmosphere. Our ideal candidate is patient, conscientious, and committed to maintaining meticulous accounting records.


Responsibilities


Accounts Payable Management


  • Execute the processing of bills and payments, strictly adhering to established protocols to ensure error-free transactions
  • Manage weekly labor payroll, ensuring accurate data entry and timely disbursement


Transaction & Reporting


  • Conduct job costing and critically review Profit and Loss reports by job to assure precise financial data.
  • Carry out the classification and coding of transactions with impeccable accuracy
Data and Record Maintenance


  • Contribute to the organization of internal data, maintaining highest standards of accuracy and presentation.
  • Record permit costs based on weekly Production reports, ensuring meticulous data input
Cross-Training & Skill Enhancement


  • Perform assigned monthly close tasks & procedures, strictly adhering to timelines and established protocols.
  • Undergo cross-training in various accounting areas to ensure seamless coverage during employee absences
Vendor & Customer Interaction


  • Engage in formal, professional communication with vendors and customers, focusing on pleasant and accurate transaction completion.
Software Proficiency


  • Utilize QuickBooks Desktop, Google Sheets, and Excel to carry out tasks. Prior experience preferred.
Miscellaneous


  • Anticipate and take on additional responsibilities and projects, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to professional standards


Requirements


Requirements


  • Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop, Google Sheets, and Excel
  • Ability to work well under controlled pressure, maintaining high standards even in high-volume circumstances
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbalHighly process-oriented with little need for deviation
  • Comfortable working independently without a high degree of oversight
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
