ABOUT THE JOB
The ACLU seeks a full-time position of Talent Development Specialist in the Human Resources Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York.

The Human Resources department oversees the entire employee lifecycle and strives to create a best-in-class employee experience through its outreach efforts, total rewards, onboarding, learning and development initiatives, and ongoing employee engagement. We are responsible for creating, strengthening, and sustaining the programs, processes, and policies that empower people, support and advance the institution, and enable the ACLU to deliver on its mission.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Talent Management and Engagement, the Talent Development Specialist will help lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the ACLU’s talent development programs including our performance and employee development framework and culture, people management and leadership training programs and learning programs with a particular focus on early career development. The Talent Development Specialist will play an integral role in promoting a culture of learning and development at the organization that will deliver engaging experiences to elevate both individual and organizational performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage targeted requests for professional skill development – assess needs and make recommendations for training, coaching, mentoring and other development methods
- Develop and deliver presentations, e-learning, and workshops to communicate the ACLU’s Talent Development policy, practice and offerings
- Create and manage data analytics and reporting on the impact of the initiatives/programs implemented, integrating data from various sources and developing presentations/formats for communicating key results, themes and trends over time
- Lead the annual performance review process, including developing resources to support staff and managers and administering the performance review system
- Partner closely with the Senior Director of Talent Management and Engagement on the development and implementation of robust people management training programs
- Administer organizational professional development budget and determine resource allocation
- Manage projects to define and enhance the employee experience, including by developing competency models, career path guidance, mentoring resources, and skills-training offerings
- Manage relationships with vendors; ensure accountability, coordinate all program/training sessions and related logistical needs, and oversee program evaluation and continuous improvement. Manage related vendor contracts and payments
In addition to:
- Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned
- Center principles of equity, inclusion, and belonging in all work, embedding the values in program development, policy application, and organizational practices and processes
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity within the office using a personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences in regards to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability and socio-economic circumstance
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with staff at all levels from a diverse array of backgrounds
- Strong communication skills including experience designing training content and process/policy guidance and adapting it for delivery across multiple channels/platforms; experience developing and delivering presentations, and organizational communications
- Strong understanding of Organizational Development/Psychology, Talent Analytics and/or Human Resources Management
- Strong project management skills, with ability to develop plans and meet deliverables on multiple concurrent projects
- Demonstrated experience successfully designing, implementing, facilitating and managing several concurrent complex projects/programs related to Talent Management and Development
- Ability to flex between various thinking and working styles, and to shift from big picture ideation, to analysis and planning to execution and delivery
- Experience conducting program evaluation, including managing surveys and data compilation and analysis
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven ability to deliver results with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment
- Demonstrated experience as outlined above managing concurrent complex projects with an organization of 500 or more employees
- Demonstrated experience in a directly related field, with a focus on developing and conducting training assessments
