Who we are and what we do:
The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development is the state agency established to promote workforce development and improve workplace safety and health throughout the state.
How you make a difference in this role:
Experience providing professional support to multiple representative groups while negotiating issues and identifying promising practices. A qualified candidate will also have strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Job overview:
Provide administrative support while working cross functionally with leadership across the division, this position is responsible for administratively coordinating strategic support efforts both internally and externally to LWDAs and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop procedures for Regional and Local PlansWork directly with LWDA partners to gather updates and information, requests for support, promising practices, and success stories
- Assist in outlining and communicating strategic initiatives
- Creating and delivering professional presentations to external partners communicating strategic priorities
- Coordinate strategic support
- In partnership with the Employer Operations Unit, review strategic plans and provide support for efforts to provide services to business and industry partners seeking qualified employees.
- In partnership with the Job Seeker Operations Unit, review strategic plans and provide support to programs seeking training and employment opportunities.
- Supervise staff supporting strategic plans and training
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience interpreting strategic priorities and implementing procedures to coordinate achievement
- Strong technical and virtual capabilities
- Ability to plan, multitask, and manage time effectively
- Desire for public service though working with local, regional, and state stakeholders to increase program effectiveness for all Tennesseans
- Familiarity with the federal US Department of Labor released workforce guidance and regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with clarity and precision, both written and verbal
- Experience providing executive level administrative support
- Experience with the Tennessee Workforce System and/or workforce development through State/Local Workforce Development Boards, American Job Centers, community based or non-profit workforce development organizations, or other state agencies
Required Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to five years of full-time professional staff administrative work
