Job Description
About ONE

ONE is on a mission to help people live healthier financial lives. We’re doing this by creating simple solutions to help our customers save, spend, and grow their money – all in one place.

The U.S. consumer today deserves better. Millions of Americans today can’t access credit, build savings or wealth, and are left to manage their financial lives through multiple disconnected apps. Almost a quarter of U.S. adults are unbanked or underbanked and roughly 80% of fintech users rely on multiple accounts to manage their finances.

What makes us unique? We are backed by a preeminent fintech investor (Ribbit) and the world’s largest retailer (Walmart), maintain the speed and independence of a startup, and employ a strong (and growing) collection of world-class talent.

There’s never been a better moment to build a business that helps people live healthier financial lives. Come build with us!

The Role

Our People Partner team is responsible for connecting, enabling, and empowering organization-wide context and people so that we can ship incredible products to our customers. At ONE, we’re on a mission to help people live healthier financial lives. With the company having doubled its headcount last year and forecasted to grow again this year, there is an excellent opportunity for impact. You will join a People function that is in build mode and racing to get ahead of the needs of the business on the people front. It’s an exciting opportunity to grow in a fast-paced setting. In this role, you are responsible for driving strategic and scalable solutions in support of the employee experience. You are equal parts advisor, coach, and practitioner – a “consultant in a box.” Partnering with leadership and broader team managers, you will build, roll out and drive programs that help client groups meet the challenges of a fast-growing organization.

  • Client group. Partner with our Product, Design, Data, and Risk teams as a trusted advisor and thought partner to ensure these leaders, and their teams, are set-up for success. You will strengthen leader effectiveness, build world class teams, and bring a spirit of entrepreneurship to your client groups.
  • Insights-driven. Collaborate with the People Insights team to uncover insights and support leaders in making data informed decisions and investments in people. This includes contributing to business reviews, engagement survey accountabilities, and ensuring our leaders are informed with key insights.
  • Program support. Drive adoption of programs including Talent Review, performance management, engagement survey planning, talent development, manager training, risk mitigation, onboarding, etc.)
  • Partnerships. You will partner closely with Talent, People Operation, Legal, and other cross-functional teams to implement solutions and help scale the business. You will need to influence cross-functionally so that you’re focused on the most high leverage areas of impact.
  • Balance business outcomes with org design and optimization. Lead effective organizational change to enable a sustained adoption of our multi-year people roadmap. Provide counsel to leaders at all levels, support org structure decisions, and act as a thought partner on hiring, internal mobility, employee relations, performance, and professional development strategies.

You Bring

  • Curious and consultative approach and can balance inquiry, facilitation, and strong recommendations when needed while drawing from others' strengths.
  • Proven background in organizational design, M&A, and building people practices from ground up
  • Able to draw from a mix of logic, intuition, analytics, and experience to establish new insights
  • 10+ years of dynamic experience as an HRBP partnering with senior executives in product, technology, or engineering functions, ideally in environments of high growth and transformation
  • An act-like-an-owner mentality. We have a bias toward taking action
  • Demonstrates solid judgment and experience assessing risk relative to the business
  • A first principles thinker, with the ability to see possibilities from constraints
  • Ability to flex between being strategic, analytical, and being a doer who pushes the boundaries of status quo to bring in the right ideas and practices.

Pay Transparency

The estimated annual base salary for this position ranges from $190,000 to $215,000. Pay is generally based upon the level, complexity, responsibility, and job duties / requirements of the specific position. We then source candidates with the requisite skills, expertise, education, training, and experience. If you are selected for an interview, please feel welcome to speak to a Talent Partner about our compensation philosophy and other available benefits.

What it’s like working @ ONE

Our teams collaborate remotely and in our work spaces in New York and Sacramento.

  • 401(k) plan with match
  • Generous stock option packages in an early-stage startup
  • Flexible time off programs - vacation, sick, paid parental leave, and paid caregiver leave
  • Benefits effective on day one
  • Remote friendly (anywhere in the US) and office friendly - you pick the schedule
  • Early access to a high potential, high growth fintech
  • Competitive cash

Leveling Philosophy

In order to thoughtfully scale the company and avoid downstream inequities, we’ve adopted a flat titling structure at ONE. Though we may occasionally post a role externally with a prefix such as “Senior” to reflect the external level of the position, we do not use prefixes in titles like that internally unless in a position which manages a team. Internal titles typically include your specific functional responsibility, such as engineering, product management or sales, and often include additional descriptors to ensure clarity of role and placement within our organization (i.e. “Engineer, Platform”, “Sales, Business Development” or “Manager, Talent”). Employees are paid commensurate with their experience and the internal level within ONE.

Inclusion & Belonging

To build technology and products that are used and loved by people and solve real-world problems, we need to build a team with many different perspectives and experiences. We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. Applicants in need of special assistance or accommodation during the interview process or in accessing our website may contact us. Email [email protected] with any questions.
