Job Title: Senior Manager of Events and Development
Reports to: Founder & CEO
Mission:
The Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation (BMCF), a not-for-profit organization established in 1992, provides financial assistance, education, and emotional support to individuals and families facing cancer and also treatment of bone marrow, stem cell, or cord blood transplants.
Position Summary:
The Senior Events Manager & Development works closely with the Founder & CEO and other staff members to manage all aspects of multiple annual special events to raise funds to support BMCF’s mission and programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Event Management:
- Oversee post-event event coordination, including debrief meetings, donor recognition and financial reporting.
- Work closely with the Founder & CEO to develop and oversee a robust calendar of special events (including galas, luncheons, student dances, family parties, shopping events, and celebrity appearance fundraisers, etc.).
- Manage and coordinate event logistics, including catering, venue, signage, decorations, invitations, and programs.
- Create party concepts for special events that engage supporters, increase brand awareness and grow revenue.
- Provide support for meetings of volunteer committees and manage volunteers before, during and after the special events.
- Develop and track special event budgets and RSVP’s.
- Develop and support event leadership and committees, write solicitation event emails, work with event leadership on outreach and follow up on prospects, manage event email inboxes, calls with event leadership and committee, identify sponsors and drive ticket sales.
- Create content for event correspondence, collateral materials, social media, and the website.
Development and Fundraising:
- Support the CEO with the cultivation and stewardship of major donors by preparing meeting agendas, materials, high-level correspondence and donor briefings.
- Performs other event duties as they arise and as assigned or requested by the CEO.
- Work with key staff members to ensure accurate and timely maintenance of required information in the donor database, including projections, proposal or moves management status, actions, donor contact information, etc.
- Attend donor meetings as appropriate.
- Develop engaging and tailored donor-facing materials and communications, such as proposals, event solicitations, and follow-up materials.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently on aspects of several events simultaneously.
- B.A. degree required.
- Unwavering focus on quality results, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Flexibility to work occasional late evenings and weekends when event schedule necessitates.
- Excellent communication, writing, organizational, and computer skills, including highly proficient in Excel spreadsheets.
- 5-7 years of experience working for or with non-profits supporting events and fundraising.
- Team player with a “can do” attitude who is comfortable multitasking and working in a small office environment.
Salary and Benefits
- Full benefits package offered including self-funded 401(k) plan.
- Annual salary range is approximately $85,000 to $95,000 commensurate with experience.
