General Summary
The Development and Events Assistant is an integral part of the Foundation team. This person serves as liaison to the Foundation Board and Administrative liaison to the Foundation Director; facilitates the internal grants application process; coordinates donor stewardship strategy across all audiences, up to and including stewardship events; provides overall Foundation office administrative and general event support. This position requires a self-starter with a passion for philanthropy and strong project management skills, who is a timely and adept communicator.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Takes initiative to complete work under limited supervision in a small office environment.
  • Ability to reason, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong project management skills with attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • 1-2 years of professional administrative support and project experience.
  • Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Experience using Raisers Edge & Board Effect preferred, or the ability to learn new donor management & volunteer administration software quickly.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Associate's degree in business, communications or related field or equivalent level education and experience, preferably in nonprofit setting.
  • Works calmly, effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines while managing multiple projects
  • Handles information of highly sensitive and confidential nature.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Serves as administrative liaison to the Foundation Board of Directors and its committees via scheduling, meeting & materials preparation & coordination, attendee communications and Board Effect Portal administration.
  • Facilitates the internal grant making process supported by Foundation Director.
  • Responsible for successful outcome of assigned projects, including planning, budgeting, implementation, completion, and evaluation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. These may include but are not limited to: Maintaining a current knowledge base of department processes, protocols and procedures, pursuing self-directed learning and continuing education opportunities, and participating on committees, task forces, and work groups as determined by management.
  • Provides Signature Event administrative support as needed, e.g., coordinate event volunteers, management of [email protected] inbox, and event rsvp oversight.
  • Serves as back up to the data manager on Raiser’s Edge.
  • Uses problem-solving skills to communicate with others.
  • Coordinates stewardship strategy for internal and external constituencies including, but not limited to budget, communications, events, gifts, & collateral needs.
  • Foundation office admin support (answering office phone, office supply orders, etc)
  • Works with Foundation data manager to ensure accuracy of event financial reporting.
  • Provides detailed administrative support for Foundation Director, including but not limited to calendar management, meeting coordination and as liaison to Executive Administration team.
