THE OPPORTUNITY


Working with the non-profit organization that presents the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the incumbent plans and implements the judging of national awards and the celebratory events in New York City for Scholastic Awards National Medalists, under the direction of organizational leadership.


Responsibilities


Adjudication


  • In collaboration with senior leadership, implement organizational strategy around adjudication criteria.
  • Management of the adjudication of all national awards and scholarships, recruiting and overseeing a broad and diverse pool of nearly 400 national jurors and a team of temporary staff members.
  • In collaboration with senior leadership and the partnerships team, facilitate the training and support of the organization’s 100+ regional partners related to the recruitment of jurors and management of the adjudication process, with a goal of advancing the Awards’ larger DEIB initiatives.
  • Oversee the enforcement of protocols related to the organization’s originality guidelines for teen-produced work; work with communication’s team to manage external communications with members of the Awards community regarding copywrite, plagiarism, and originality.


Events


  • Liaise with Scholastic Inc. team on the production of the Scholastic Awards National Ceremony;
  • Under the direction of senior leadership, supervise the organization’s Awards week activities, collaborating with the full Alliance staff and the Scholastic events team to provide a high quality experience for national award winners and their families, educators, and invited guests.
  • Manage partnerships with Carnegie Hall, Parsons the New School of Design, the Alliance’s hotel partner, and other relevant vendors
  • Curate and schedule virtual and in-person events for national award winners and their families;
  • Manage communications with all national winners.


Management and Outreach


  • Propose and give presentations at conferences, conventions, and regional ceremonies.
  • Directly supervise a team of two as well as seasonal, temporary staff members.
