If you are a Software Sales professional within the Oil and Gas or Petrochemical industry looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in Houston, TX, (Hybrid) you will be responsible for generating sales opportunities and closing them in order to support the Energy and Transportation Solutions (ETS) Operational and Commercial product lines, such as leak detection as well as commercial solutions, including pipeline scheduling and order-to-cash systems.
The successful individual will interact with executives for sales that range from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars in value. The sales cycle within this space can be from 6 months to 2 years. The territory is primarily based in southwest United States (TX, LA, OK, NM).

AS A SALES MANAGER PIPELINE SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS, YOU WILL:
Grow Software License, Subscription and Services Orders for (ETS)
- Manage the entire sales process to ensure delivery against key performance metrics, with a strong emphasis on new business sales, while expanding existing footprint.
- Responsible for achieving or exceeding annual order targets of (ETS) software within an assigned geographical territory.
Build Trusted Advisor Relationships
- Builds a foundation on which to harvest future business opportunities and accurate account information and coaching .
- Establishes relationships with C-Level Business, Digital & IT executive sponsors, and Operations Leadership on assigned accounts; participate in development of (ETS) software-based solutions to improve client’s business operating metrics.
Demonstrate Customer and Situational Awareness
- Review public information (e.g., new executive appointments, earnings statements, press releases) for the company and its competitors to remain updated on key industry trends and issues impacting the prospect.
- Actively understand assigned account’s technology footprint, strategic growth plans, technology strategy and competitive landscape.
Drive Account Leadership
- Close enterprise agreements with assigned strategic accounts and their sites regionally or globally.
- Create accounts that become Emerson Customer Success references.
- Lead the development & execution of designated account plans, stakeholder mapping, address stakeholder priorities & pain points, and optimize sales cycles, using value-based solution selling methodologies with focus on business case definition, ROI and business outcomes.
- Implement high level account strategies utilizing effective competitive positioning, value recognition and relationship development.
Practice Sales Excellence
- Practitioner of best practice Solution Sales Methodologies
- Confident in operating independently when necessary.
- Manage Opportunities through review, and deal approval processes.
- Effectively articulate customer drivers, needs, and sales strategy to leadership.
- Communicate customer drivers, needs, sales strategy and account plans to internal management and the sales team.
- Consistent and effective use of CRM

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPEREINCE & SKILLS:
- Proven ability to work with technical resources and sales management
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 40%
- Bachelor's Degree
- Proficient in selling software licenses and implementation services
- Ability to identity and develop new opportunities and manage the sale to successful close.
- Proven ability to sell at ‘C’ Level and Senior Management Levels
- Excellent communications skills and ability to communicate at all levels within our client's organization
- A minimum 6 years of sales experience within the Oil and Gas or Petro-Chemical industries
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPEREINCE & SKILLS:
- Strategic Thinker - Organized and driven.
- Problem solver - In some cases, the applications address process inefficiencies which requires good problem identification (find the inefficiencies) and good problem solving.
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or technical discipline
- MBA
- Familiarity with enterprise software implementations involving multiple departments.
- Strong pipeline terminal
- Experience in the petroleum industry, preferably in the transportation (pipelines and terminals) space
