The Opportunity
The Sales Analyst will work closely with the Sales and Operations team in their efforts to make decisions and implement improvements to drive sales results. You’ll provide a control regarding sales contracts and delivery, and translate that into revenue forecasts. You will also identify and champion new analytic opportunities and approaches to support sustainable market growth and sales, i.e. what’s the data telling you about the health of our business and what should we do about it. The ideal candidate needs to be sales compatible and combine good sound judgement, robust organizational skills and a good financial acumen. Comfort with Excel and working with large and multiple data sets a must.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Head of Sales to ensure forecasts are accurate
- Serve as business partner to Operations, Sales, and Finance to ensure smooth execution of sales deliverables and identify potential risks
- Serve as a passionate analytics team advocate and sales organization partner to help advance solutions that drive client loyalty, conversion, and retention
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets for business leaders
- Identify and champion new analytic opportunities and approaches to support sustainable market growth and sales
- Work with FP&A to forecast monthly revenue, maintain sales comp plans and calculations
- Present actionable information and insights to team members and management
- Automate departmental OKR/KPI reports to improve reporting efficiency
- Prepare past sales data to determine trends in productivity
- Analyze data to identify trends and discover insights to inform future sales strategy
- Provide reporting and analysis of sales pipeline and develop additional adhoc reports to answer questions from Senior Leadership
- Compile and analyze data over time to forecast sales trends, providing weekly business analyses as well as associated ad hoc reporting
- Identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve sales processes through Salesforce optimization
- Increase data reliability and metrics utilization for sales and pre-sales process
The Day-to-Day
- Must be proficient in Excel, including proven experience with Pivot Tables, Filter Options, VLOOKUP and IF Statements at minimum.
- Partner with FP&A to calculate and communicate quarterly commission payouts for sales organization
- Maintain (or build) several sophisticated reporting dashboards to easily relay key findings on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to inform key stakeholders.
- Gather and sort data from a number of different sources/platforms and demonstrate the propensity to translate these findings into organized reporting dashboards and meaningful insights.
- Understand and effectively measure the KPI’s of several revenue streams including Postings, Syndicated Partners, and on-Site.
- Create meaning behind the data; the ability to gather, sort, analyze and present findings in an organized and effectively communicated manner to influence business decisions and grow revenue for the company.
- Provide weekly updates to internal clients to maintain relationships and monitor performance against goals and budgets.
- Experience with Google Sheets and GSuite as well as slightly more advanced Excel tools and functions such as CHOOSE, OFFSET, MATCH and ability to audit reporting and financial models a big plus.
- Ability to collaborate inter-departmentally with Sales, Audit, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to effectively report revenue for month end close and adhere to contractual agreements.
Job Qualifications:
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative
- Advanced problem solving and analysis skills
- Familiarity with Salesforce and Tableau
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Marketing or Finance required (Computer Science, Applied Statistics, Operations Research or other Quantitative field a plus)
- Good attitude towards teamwork as well as the ability to work independently
- Excellent Excel skills
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in an analytical role with a focus on leveraging data
- High level of organization and detail-oriented
