JOB SUMMARY:

The Reinsurance Accountant will need to be able to perform a variety of general accounting, financial analysis and financial reporting functions related to Sutton's ceded reinsurance business. The Reinsurance Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support month end closing processes at the beginning of each month.
• Maintain client records ensuring data integrity for both client and company records through careful data entry and review.
• Participate with internal audits.
• Prepare month end bank account reconciliations as requested.
• Prepare and track tax exemption certificates for each applicable country and distribute to brokers in a timely manner.
• Research disputed account balances and work closely with customers and internal team to resolve un-reconciled matters.
• Review remittance advice from clients/brokers against system receivable and process as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Reconcile incoming payments to accounts receivable ledger.
• Prepare and keep bank account cashbook up to date.
• Prepare customer invoices, customer statements, and other reports as directed.
• Generate and distribute aging reports as directed.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to deal effectively and courteously with clients and colleagues, and to exercise discretion and confidentiality in all matters.
• Proven organizational and timekeeping skills and a strong sense of attention to detail are essential
• Mathematical and Analytical Skills - ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• BA/BS Degree (4-year college)
• 3+ years of accounting in the insurance/reinsurance industry
